Book of Ezekiel
Chapter 28

Chapter 28 brings us: (1). A prediction of the fall and ruin of the king of Tyre, who, in the destruction of that city, is particularly set up as a mark for GOD'S arrows (28:1-10). (2). A lamentation for the king of Tyre, when he has thus fallen, even though he falls by his own iniquity (28:11-19). (3). A prophecy of the destruction of Zidon, which was in the neighborhood of Tyre and depended on it (28:20-23). (4). A Promise of the restoration of the Israel of GOD, even though in the day of their calamity they were insulted by their neighbors (28:24-26).

In Chapter 27, Ezekiel brought a lamentation for Tyre, but here the king of Tyre is to be singled out by Ezekiel from all the rest. Here there is something to be said to the king, by himself, a message to him from the One and Only Almighty GOD, which the prophet must give him, whether he will hear or whether he will refuse to hear.

THEME: Judgment against the prince of Tyre; judgment against the king.

Prediction of the fall and ruin of the king of Tyre,
and the utter destruction of Tyre (28:1-10)

In this chapter we find the judgment of the prince and king of Tyre and Sidon. The prophecy looks beyond the local ruler to the one who is behind the kingdoms of the world, the deceitful and treacherous Satan. BEWARE!!! He will NEVER stop trying to tempt people until GOD puts him in HELL!

Ezekiel 28:1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, (KJV)

The word of the Lord came unto me . . . this phrase is found 62 times in the Book of Ezekiel. The Lord GOD indeed had much to say to the people, through this humble and obedient prophet.

Ezekiel 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: (KJV)

Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyre . . . whose name was Ethbaal, or Ithobalus, as he is called by Josephus. Some say this was Hiram that was in the days of Solomon, and lived a thousand years, (a fable of the Jewish Rabbis). This prince of Tyre is thought by some to be a symbol of the devil; or of the Antichrist (Rev.13); and between them there is a great agreement, and this seems very likely to have a prophetic respect to him.  http://jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/7720-hiram-huram
There has been much debate about what this king actually claimed for himself. Usually Mediterranean kings, in contrast with Egyptian pharaohs, did not see themselves as fully divine, but rather as chosen servants of the gods. But, there were exceptions, and it seems that this was one of them. There was no doubt that he was guilty of arrogant pride. But this king also seems to have seen himself as a god, or at least as a godlike figure, and this outlook would have been expected by his people. This in itself brought Tyre under condemnation. They had usurped the throne of God.
Thus saith the Lord GOD, because thine heart is lifted up: . . . with pride, because of his wisdom and knowledge, wealth and riches, as is later mentioned.
And thou hast said, I am a god . . . this the king said in his heart, in the pride of it, and maybe also expressed it with his lips, and required divine homage to be given him by his subjects, as many insolent, proud and haughty monarchs have done; in which he was an active type of Antichrist, who shows himself, and behaves, as if he was the Lord GOD, claiming what belonged only to GOD: pardoning the sins of men; opening and shutting the gates of Heaven; binding men's consciences with laws of his own making, and dispensing with the laws of GOD and man; and saying that he should be called god, and to be worshipped as such (2 Thes.2:4). He is warned that he is only a man. He is NOT a god (Isa.31:3), even though he has set his heart on a god-like position.
I sit in the seat of God . . . this king thought that he was in a place as delightful, safe and happy as Heaven itself, where the throne of GOD is; as the Antichrist is said to sit in the temple of God (2 Thes.2:4), in the house and church of the Lord GOD; where he assumes a power that does not belong to him (Isa.14:13).
In the midst of the seas . . . surrounded by seas as Tyre was, and as its king was lord of the seas; sending his ships into all parts, and by which all brought their wares; so it shall be that the whore of Rome is said to sit upon many waters (Rev.17:2) in the latter days.
Yet thou art a man, and not God . . . a frail, foolish, weak, mortal man, NOT the mighty GOD, as his destruction shall later show. Just as the popes of Rome shall appear to be, for they shall die as any other man, and as the Antichrist will plainly be seen to be, when he shall be destroyed with the Spirit of Christ's mouth, and the brightness of his coming (2 Thes.2:8; Rev.19:15, 20-21; 20:10).
Though thou set thine heart as the heart of God . . . this king acted as if he were full of all wisdom and knowledge, thinking so well of himself, as if he were as sovereign and supreme as Almighty GOD Himself!
He demanded that he was to be feared, obeyed and submitted to by all. This king had set his heart as the heart of God, which NO man could ever do!

*****Again the word of the LORD comes to Ezekiel, and this time there is a message for the king of Tyre. This great kingdom was a great commercial center, a great political center and the great stronghold of Tyre. This king, we shall see, is the one who seemingly also controls all the kingdoms of the world. This king is the symbol of Satan. Satan offered the kingdoms of the world to the LORD Jesus during His temptation in the wilderness. Luke 4:5-7 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6  And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7  If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. (KJV)    http://www.godcannotlie.org/luke_ch4.htm

The LORD JESUS rejected Satan's offer, not because He did not recognize his ownership and power . . . Christ knew that Satan did have control of the kingdoms. In the end, in the latter days, Christ JESUS shall be the One that will rule over the kingdoms of the world . . . but HE will NOT be as the vice-regent of Satan! Dear one, in today’s world, the devil is still the prince of the power of the air (Eph.2:2). He is the one who is in control of the kingdoms of our world, but his day in court shall come one day, and he shall be brought down to where he belongs, the lake of fire (Rev.20:10).   http://www.godcannotlie.org/rev_ch20.htm

I believe that this king is a type of Antichrist, and the apostle John says there are many, and JESUS also says the same thing. Matthew 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (KJV) . . . There are two ways to be anti-Christ: (1). One way is to deny the Person of Christ, to be His enemy; and (2). the other way is to imitate Him. There will be many religious and political rulers in the coming days, that shall claim to be Christ! BEWARE!!! Do NOT believe their lies!

Ezekiel 28:3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: (KJV)

Thou art wiser . . . this king was wiser in his own thoughts of himself than Daniel, who was at that time famous for his wisdom, which was imparted to him from Heaven (Eze.14:20; Dan.1:20; 2:20, 48). Thou art wiser, that is to say, in his own opinion.
There is no secret that they can hide from thee . . . there is NO secret that any man can conceal from the all-knowing GOD. Their enemies shall arrange against you to your danger or hurt . . . this is said sarcastically. Ezekiel refers to Ithbaal's arrogant opinion of his wisdom and that of the Tyrians, as superior to that of Daniel, whose fame had reached even Tyre. No secret, that is, for getting riches, that they can hide or can behidden.

*****Here is another reference to Daniel. There are three times Ezekiel mentions Daniel (14:14, 20; 28:3). Ezekiel and Daniel, were about the same age group. Ezekiel had great respect for Daniel, who was prime minister in Babylon, and who really stood firm as a rock for the LORD. Vernon J. McGee stated: I would have much preferred to live in the palace and spend one night in the lions' den than to work with the captives, but Ezekiel had no choice in the matter.

Ezekiel refers to Daniel's wisdom. I think the wise men in that day would make the so-called college crowd of today seem totally ignorant. I think the great men in Ezekiel's day were very wise men, especially the ones chosen by GOD to be His prophets.

Ezekiel 28:4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: (KJV)

With thy wisdom and with thy understanding thou hast gotten thee riches . . . their skill in navigation and trade made the Tyrians and their princes famous, by which they acquired great wealth. So too, the Antichrist, by carnal plan, and hellish subtleness, has amassed vast treasures together, by the sale of pardons and indulgences have brought immense riches into the Roman church reserves. Dear one, pardons for sin CANNOT be purchased from the Catholic Church or the pope! Neither can indulgences be done by any mortal man [paying money to reduce your punishment]. RIDICULOUS!!! BEWARE!!! Only GOD can pardon your sin!
Consider this instead: piety is often yoked with poverty.
And hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures . . . in great quantities (Rev.18:3).

Ezekiel 28:5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches: (KJV)

By thy great wisdom and by thy traffic . . . the king had great skill in trade and commerce,
Hast thou increased thy riches . . . to an extreme degree, an extraordinary bulk; so Antichrist has done, especially through trafficking with the souls of men, which is one part of his merchandise, as it was of Tyre (Rev.18:13).
And thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches . . . riches nearly always puff up and make men high minded, and build within them a vain opinion of themselves, making them brazen, contemptuous and proud in their behavior to others; so elated with worldly grandeur and riches, just as the whore of Rome is represented as proud, vain and haughty (Rev.18:7).

Ezekiel 28:6 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; (KJV)

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD . . . now follows the punishment threatened, because of all the pride, haughtiness and utter blasphemy.
Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God . . . seeking his own glory; setting himself up above all others; thinking that to himself which belongs only to GOD; and making himself equal to him, or presenting himself as if he were GOD (28:2).

Ezekiel 28:7 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. (KJV)

Behold, therefore, I will bring strangers upon thee . . . the Chaldean army, who not only lived quite a distance from Tyre, but were unknown to them, not trading with them; nor are they mentioned among the merchants of Tyre. These, in the mystical sense, may represent the angels that shall pour out the vials on the anti-Cchristian states in the latter days (Rev.15:1; 16:1; 17:1).
The terrible of the nations . . . the Babylonians were very frightening to the world, having conquered many countries, and their armies consisting of men of all nations, mighty, courageous and expert in war; and similar to the terrible will of the princes to the anti-Christian powers, when they shall with their united strength attack them. The terrible of the nations; a fierce, violent, and cruel nation (Hab.1:7-8).
And they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom . . . their beautiful city and spacious buildings, the palaces of their king and nobles, their walls and towers erected with so much art and skill; their men of war within their city, which made their beauty complete, so well skilled in military affairs (27:10), or their ships, and the merchandise of them, and the curious things brought in them . . . everything that was rich and valuable, the effect of their art and wisdom: all which may be applied to the city of Rome, when it will be taken, ransacked and burnt (Rev.18:8).
And they shall defile thy brightness . . . profane his crown, cast down his throne, destroy his kingdom, and all that is great and glorious in thee; so too the whore of Rome shall be made bare and desolate (Rev.17:16).

Ezekiel 28:8 They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas. (KJV)

They shall bring thee down to the pit . . .  the pit is here meant the bottom of the sea, and is the image of one conquered in a sea-fight, because Tyre is shown as a large ship wrecked in the sea in Chapter 27. One says to corruption, or to the grave, the pit of corruption and destruction; so Antichrist shall go into perdition, into the bottomless pit from whence he came (Rev.17:8). The pit is a common phrase used of death and the grave.
And thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas . . . or those that die in a sea fight, whose carcasses are thrown overboard, and devoured by fishes. The deaths is plural, because various kinds of deaths are meant (Jer.16:4). Them that are slain or literally, pierced through; and of such deaths as those pierced, many wounds die.

Ezekiel 28:9 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee. (KJV)

Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? . . . when the king is in the enemies' hands, and just about to be put to death, will he then so confidently declare his deity? And tell him to his face that you are God? This is a very cutting insult, or sarcasm. What will become of your god-ship then? Will you then dream of immortality and almighty power, when your enemy is cutting your throat? It would be certain that his courage and confidence, his blasphemy and ungodliness, will leave him then! So too, the Antichrist when taken, and when just before being cast into the lake of fire along with the false prophet (Rev.20:10) will certainly NOT be brazen enough to call himself God, or to call himself Christ's vicar on Earth!
But thou shalt be a man, and no god, in the hand of him that slayeth thee . . . the prince was nothing but a man, NOT a god . . . he shall be a poor, frail, weak, trembling, dying man, when in the hand of him that slayeth thee . . . and when the hand of the enemy comes against you to put an end to your life; where will be your boasting to be god be then?

*****Ezekiel brings a cutting taunt, a bitter sarcasm against this king! Where will your boasting to be god, and your dream of immortality and almighty power be when your enemy is cutting your throat?

Ezekiel 28:10 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD. (KJV)

Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised . . . meaning the death of the wicked (Rev.20:11-15), not only a temporal, but an eternal death, as they must do that are not of the covenant of grace (Eph.2:8-9; Heb.10:29), whereof circumcision was the seal (Rom.2:28-29; Col.2:11-12).
Romans 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: (KJV)  http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_romans_ch.4.htm
This is the sad tragedy of those who dream of being a deity, of which were Caligula, Herod, Heliogabalus, Dioclesian and other monstrous, heathen vice gods, as we could call them.
By the hand of strangers . . . the Chaldeans, death might come in various ways (28:8); and this may mean the various kinds of death which the inhabitants of Rome will die when destroyed, some by famine, some by pestilence, and others by fire; when these plagues shall come upon her in one day (Rev.18:8).
For I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD . . . any time the LORD says something, you can be certain it shall come to pass!  This blasphemous, proud, self-admiring king shall be brought down, just as shall be the Antichrist in the latter days (Rev.20:10).

***** Those who imagine they are rivals with the Lord GOD shall one day be forced to deny their claims. Physical death shall prove they are NOT gods when they come into His Hand on Judgment Day. They shall then know that they are men, and it will be then that they shall know that the LORD, and He alone is GOD!

Judgment against the King (28:11-26)

Ezekiel 28:11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, (KJV)

Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me . . . the word of the Lord came unto me . . . this phrase is found 46 times in Ezekiel. After the prophecy concerning the ruin of the prince of Tyre, the word of the LORD came to the prophet, ordering him to take up a lamentation on the king of Tyre, saying; as follows:

*****Ezekiel is NOT giving his own opinion, he speaks messages coming directly from Almighty GOD. He brought a lamentation over the city of Tyre, he spoke about the prince of Tyre, and now he brings a lamentation of the king of Tyre. It was not safe to be a king in those days. Uneasiness lies in the head that wears the crown. The glory of kings did not last long. The king behind the kingdom of Tyre was Satan. Chapter 28 of Ezekiel is one of the few Passages in the Word of God that give us the source of the devil and of evil. It is sad to say, but very few people ever consider the devil and all the evil that he is behind. BEWARE!!!

Ezekiel 28:12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. (KJV)

Take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus . . . a lamentation (19:1; 26:17; 27:2, 32; 32:2), upon the king of Tyrus, the king is called prince (28:2). The bishop of Rome was first only a prince, ruler, governor and leader in the church; afterwards he became a king, even over other kings, princes and states. This seems to point to his twofold power, secular and ecclesiastical, and so he is represented by two beasts (Rev.13:1, 11), and here a lamentation or funeral song is ordered to be taken up and said for him, to mean his certain destruction and ruin.
And say unto him, thus saith the Lord GOD, thou sealest up the sum . . . thou sealest up is translated by some as, you form a picture of yourself; for you represent yourself as the perfection of wisdom and beauty (27:3-4). Sealest up the sum . . . a thing is sealed when it is completed (Dan. 9:24). Thou sealest up the sum . . . this is a very difficult phrase. Thou set the seal to thy completeness [perfection] . . . the prince thinks himself to have attained the completion of all beauty and wisdom. Some think that by the king of Tyre is meant the whole royal family, also including the previous kings, and looking as far back as Hiram, king of Tyre. The then governor is called prince (28:2); but he is here lamented [mourned] is called king. In the latter days, the Antichrist would not allow any to buy or sell anything unless they had received his mark or seal on their right hand, or in their forehead (Rev.13:16). Some understand this to be a reference to the custom of sealing measures, used in buying and selling; and that it respects the man of sin (2 Thes.2:3), who takes upon himself the power of making all new rules and standards for all under his power.

*****Satan was/is the wisest creature GOD ever created. Please consider that Satan is a created being. He was created perfect in beauty and wisdom, but he is NOT god!!! Satan is NOT a creature with horns, a forked tail, and cloven feet!!! That idea comes from literature of the Middle Ages which has its origin in Greek mythology that goes back into Asia Minor. This could be a description of the god Pan, or Bacchus, the god of pleasure. He has horns, he runs through the grape vineyard, he is the god of the grape, the god of wine. From his waist down he is represented as a goat. http://www.bible-history.com/isbe/B/BACCHUS/
The Holy Word of God does NOT present Satan in that manner. The Bible presents him as perfect in beauty.2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. (KJV) . . . These horrible ministers of Satan are out to please their master! BEWARE!!! They bring just a tiny bit of Truth, but the rest will lead you to the lake of fire where they and their master shall one day be (Rev.20:10). Do NOT listen to their damnable heresies (2 Pet.2:1).

What was it that brought him down? We will soon see.

Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. (KJV)

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God . . . thou hast been in Eden this also is a strong sarcasm, for the king of Tyre was never really there, or ever dwelt in it; but his situation in Tyre was as safe, and as pleasant and delightful, as Adam's was in the garden of Eden, at least in his own mind. No student of God's Word cannot NOT know of the meaning of Eden. That was that garden where Adam and Eve had been placed by the LORD, and into which Satan showed up to seduce Eve and bring about the fall of the human race. In Eden the garden of GOD . . . this garden was a place of delight, and although men have made some delightful gardens, NONE were ever like that one in Eden that GOD planted. In the mystical sense, this designs the church of GOD, which is an Eden, a garden, a paradise (Song 4:12) and where Satan [antichrist] first appeared, and seated himself as if he were GOD (2 Thes.2:4).
After this clause, the rest of the description must be applied to Satan BEFORE his appearance in Eden.
Every precious stone was thy covering . . . not only the covering of his head, his crown, was decked with jewels and precious stones of all sorts; but his clothes, the covering of his body, were adorned with them. The Targum is, all precious stones were set in order upon thy garments. Every precious stone was his covering. There is a great variety of precious stones; he had every kind and in such plenty that besides what were treasured up in his cabinet, and were the ornaments of his crown, he had his clothes trimmed with them; they were his covering. It seems that the magnificence of the king of Tyre outdid all other princes in jewels, which those that have the greatest amount of trade abroad, as he did. This rightly describes the whore of Rome arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones (Rev.17:4). The pope's triple crown is surrounded with them, and a cross of precious stones is on his slipper, when he holds out his foot to be kissed. Acts 10:25-26 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. 26  But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. (KJV) . . . There is NO proof anywhere that Peter was the first pope, in fact, I cannot find that Peter was ever even in Rome.

https://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20Religions/Roman%20Catholicism/peter.htm
Every precious stone was thy covering . . . not only his crown was decked with precious stones, as was the Pope’s triple crown is in this day with gems of greatest value, but his royal robe was extremely magnificent and costly, and the slippers on his feet, as the king held out his feet to be kissed, as also does the Pope today. Dear one, this is a great insult to TRUE Christianity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papal_tiara     https://www.chick.com/bc/1993/papalcrown.asp    http://www.biblelight.net/claims.htm

The sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold . . . writers widely vary about these stones; and it is difficult to say what answer to the Hebrew words here used. The sardius or the sardine stone is of a blood color, commonly called a cornelian, and is found in Sardis and Sardinia, from whence some say it has its name. The topaz is a hard transparent stone, said to be of a beautiful yellow or gold color by those who confuse it with the chrysolite; it seems the true topaz is a fine green color, and the best is to be found in Ethopia (Job 28:19). The diamond is a precious stone, the first in rank, value, hardness and luster; the most perfect color is white. The beryl is a stone of a pale green color, and is thought to be the diamond of the ancients, and thought by some to be the chrysolite. The onyx resembles the whiteness of the nail of a man’s hand. The jasper is a stone of various colors and spots, variegated like a panther. The Targum renders it pantherin; the most valuable is the green spotted with red or purple. The sapphire is a stone of an azure or sky blue color, it is very hard and transparent. The emerald is of a very fine green color interspersed with golden spots, bright, clear and pleasant to the eye. The carbuncle is a flame color. Gold . . . next to the abundance of which was in their public treasures, much was used on the clothes and robes of this proud prince. It could be that these precious stones were set in gold, that they might be safer to attach to his garments. This was the trappings of solemnities, especially of the coronation, as appears in the end of the verse. The Targum paraphrases it; these are nine of the stones which were in the breastplate of the Jewish high priest, whom the king of Tyre might have knowledge of and imitate, as it is certain the pope of Rome does in some things. The nine precious stones here mentioned answer to nine of the twelve (representing the twelve tribes) in the high priest’s breastplate (Ex.28; Rev.21:14, 19-21). http://jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/3668-breastplate-of-the-high-priest
Here too, is a reference to Antichrist, who blasphemously claims the office of our divine High Priest (Zec.6:13) . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/zec_ch6.htm
The workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created . . . the workmanship of thy tabrets, the prophet now records their joys, music and songs; both to wind or loud music, and to softer music, as the lute and tabret (Gen.31:27; Ex.15:20; 1 Sam.10:5; 18:6; Isa.5:12), in the day of the king’s coronation. Such like instruments of music, were used in Tyre, by way of rejoicing: and as this was literally true of the king of Tyre at his coronation, so of the bishop of Rome at his creation and inauguration, which is attended with bells ringing, drums beating, trumpets sounding; and so in mystical Babylon [Rome] is heard, although the time is coming when it will not be heard any more in her, the voice of harpers, musicians, pipers, and trumpeters (Rev.18:22).  www.worshipexpressions.net/what-is-a-tabret.html

*****Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God . . . NO king of Tyre has ever been in the Garden of Eden! This speaks of Satan, not the king of Tyre. Every precious stone was thy covering . . . I don’t think any of us can even begin to imagine how beautiful this created angel was! The workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee . . . not only could he sing, it seems music was part of him. The first mention of music is found in (Gen.4:21), and it originated with the descendant of Cain. There is much ‘music’ in today’s world that comes from Satan’s children (1 Jn.3:10), straight out of the pits of Hell, where Satan and all his children shall dwell for eternity! BEWARE!!! Everlasting fire, everlasting punishment of Hell: (Mat.25:41, 46; Rev.20:10).

Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. (KJV)

Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth . . . the sarcasm is continued; and here the king is compared to the cherubs that guarded the gates of Paradise (Gen.3:24), and kept the way of the tree of life; or to the cherubs whose wings, spread out, covered the mercy-seat (Gen.25:18-19).
The clear meaning of this is that the character spoken of was an angel of God, the word cherub cannot mean anything else. The idea of the myth disappears in this verse. God tell us who the king of Tyre here was . . . he was a perfect angel in whom unrighteousness was found, after which God threw him out of heaven and down to Earth. Critics have done their best to get rid of this verse, some rendering it, thou wast with the cherubs . . . but that does not get rid of the meaning, which would then be, among the cherubs was thy dwelling, without doubt indicating his place among the angels of God, and as one of them. The imagery used by Ezekiel as a priest, is from the Jewish Temple upon Mount Zion., where the cherubims overshadowed the mercy seat, and as the king of Tyre, a god in his own eyes, extended his protection over the interests of Tyre. The pretenses of the Antichrist is the hidden reference, of whom the king of Tyre is a type. 2 Thes.2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. (KJV)
And I have set thee so . . . I [GOD] have set thee, NOT thou set thyself (Pro.8:16). The Lord GOD had set this special angel, where he was. GOD had made him as He did, and set him above others . . . which should have been a matter of thankfulness and humility, NOT of pride and atheism. This applied also to the king of Tyre and to the Antichrist in the latter days (Rev.13). So the sarcasm is continued, and he is rebuked for his disrespect. It is by divine permission that the king and Antichrist shall take such power to himself. Rev. 17:17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. (KJV)
Thou wast upon the holy mountain of God . . . the sarcasm still continues; Lucifer had been in Heaven and probably on Mount Sinai with Moses, where God had appeared with a multitude of His angels, having a glittering pavement under His Feet (Ex.24:10). The prophet still has his mind on the mountain of GOD (Isa.11:9; 56:7), but yet the words are ominously spoken of Tyre as a respected sanctuary, rising up from the sea.
Thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire . . . some understand this to be the precious stones with which the king of Tyre was adorned, which glittered like fire; while others say this is the people of God, those living lively stones of which the spiritual house is built (1 Pet.2:5); who, because of their clear light, burning zeal and love, may be said to be as stones of fire. One interprets the stones of fire as the Israelites, who were a holy people; another says it means the kings of Israel who were as the ministering angels. The seraphim perhaps he means, so called from their burning and flaming love. The Targum is, and over the holy people thou hast thought to rule. So many interpretations!  It seems this king of Tyre had a very ambitious imagination, where he stood in the place of God, under whose feet was, as it were, a pavement of sapphire, while His glory was like devouring fire (Ex.24:10, 17). This shall also apply to the Antichrist in the latter days (Rev.13).

Ezekiel 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. (KJV)

Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created . . . NO statement as this was ever made concerning any mortal human being who ever lived on Earth. Only of the LORD Jesus Christ (Heb.5:9), or an angel of GOD, could this have been spoken. Clearly, this is NOT a description of any ordinary flesh-and-blood human being.
Till iniquity was found in thee . . . this may possibly refer to the deplorable case of Lucifer and the angels that fell, when iniquity was found in them. And when iniquity was once found in the devil, it increased; he grew worse and worse, as appears in verse 18. Fall of the devil: (Isa.14:12; Eze.28:13-17; Lk.10:18; Rev.12:7-10; 20:10). Pride, blasphemy against God and contempt of His people (Rev.13:6), as well as violence and deceit; ALL of this was found in the king of Tyre; and so too in latter times in the church of Rome, when the man of sin was revealed, there were pride, haughtiness and ambition, found in it; blasphemy against God and Christ, and the saints: false doctrine, false worship, superstition, and idolatry (Rev.17).

*****Satan protected GOD'S throne. He had the highest position a created being could have. What was it that brought him down? Ezekiel doesn't tell us, but Isaiah does! Isaiah 14:12-15 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15  Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. (KJV) . . . The thing that brought Lucifer down was pride! Satan, the devil wanted to be GOD! He wanted to separate himself from GOD, kick the One and Only True GOD out and take His place! He rebelled against his Creator! Consider this: Satan was the angel of light; he was perfect . . . but he fell. We are not perfect! We are not angels, we are only frail human beings. God cannot tolerate rebellion from anyone! The prophet continues his sarcasm: the prince of Tyre was a god in his own mind. But remember, he was found full of iniquity! And this accusation and insult leads us to look with the prophet from the proud claim of this prince to his great miscarriages. NO one can hide their sin from Almighty GOD!

Ezekiel 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. (KJV)

By the multitude of thy merchandise . . . with many nations of the Earth, who came to the markets and fairs of Tyre, and to whom she sent her goods: by the multitude her trading.
They have filled the midst of thee with violence  . . . filled the midst of the city with violence; the king, as the head of the state was involved in the guilt of the state, which he did not bring under control, but instead nurtured. With violence; Tyre’s merchants forced their unjust plans (27:36), making injustice and violence grow as their trade did, and filled the city with guilt as fast as it did with wealth.
And thou hast sinned . . . by this unjust and ungodly way of dealing.
Therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God . . . Mount Zion is the place where the living GOD dwells, and is worshipped, and on which the Lamb stands with his hundred and forty and four thousand, having his name and his Father's on their foreheads (Rev.14:1), these will have NO spiritual union with the church and pope of Rome (Rev.17:1-4; 18:4); these will NOT receive the Antichrist’s mark, nor worship his image (Rev.13:16-17). Cast thee as profane . . . the anointed cherub shall no longer be treated as sacred, but be driven out of the place of holiness (28:14) which he had occupied (Ps.89:38-40).
And I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire . . . from among the people of God, who have the clear light of the Gospel, and a sincere love for Christ Jesus; these withdrew themselves from his jurisdiction and government; and with whom his name, power and authority perish, especially when they shall have gotten the victory over him (Rev.15:1-4). One says, that thou may not take a portion with the righteous; another states, have no part, lot, or fellowship with them. The Targum is, I will destroy thee, O king that art anointed, because thou thoughtest to rule over the holy people.

*****Satan shall one day be judged for his sin. He is only a creature, made by the One and Only Creator GOD. To me, this is a great comfort, because GOD’S TRUE children have SOMEONE abiding within them (Jn.14:16; Rom.8:9), and the Holy Spirit is much greater than he that is in the world (1 Jn.4:4). There is NO way that I would be able to overcome the devil! So, I am thankful that God shall deal with him (Rev.20:10).

Ezekiel 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. (KJV)

Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty . . . thine heart was lifted up (28;2, 5), thy beauty (28:12). Riches, wealth, power and authority (28:5), as the pope of Rome is, because of the pride, pomp and splendor of the Roman church, and the extravagant appearance it makes (Rev.17:4-7).
Thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness . . . outward luster and glory, dazzled his eyes so that he could not see things in a true light. Neglecting the Word of God, and setting up his own infallibility, the king of Tyre became irrational, unwise, and a fool. BEWARE!!!
I will cast thee to the ground . . . down from the throne and peak of honor, to the lowest state and condition.
And I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. . . lay thee before kings or, set thee before men of your quality, who are as you, likely to forget men, themselves and God.

*****Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty . . . pride! Thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness . . . Solomon, the wisest man (1 Ki.4:29-34), was a fool. And here we see that the devil, the greatest creature that GOD ever created, perfect and filled with all that could be learned, played the fool. Dear one, God's children can also be fools if they choose to turn against the GOD Who created them! BEWARE!!!
I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee . . . GOD made a spectacle of the king of Tyre, and He shall make an utter spectacle of Satan in the latter days (Rev.20:10).
Ezekiel 28:18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the Earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. (KJV)

Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities. . . thy palaces, the palace of the king, and the palaces of the nobles, where much wickedness was done, and which sin was the cause of their being defiled or destroyed by the Chaldeans. Some read this as; their sacred places, their temples, where their gods were worshipped, and idolatry was committed. This could be applied to the places of religious worship among the popes and their churches; which, instead of being adorned, are defiled with their many images and image worship. I think there has been much sarcasm ridiculing this proud prince, a reference to his pretense of being god. These gods do have their sanctuaries, but nasty, polluted and ungodly they are!
By the iniquity of thy traffic . . . by bringing in ill-gotten goods into the sacred places of Tyre, as they were accused of doing, and by selling pardons; supposedly praying souls out of purgatory for money; by buying or selling of religious privileges, and other similar spiritual merchandise in Roman churches (Rev.18:1-5).
Therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee . . . I will bring forth a fire, some civil opposition or event of injustice shall, be like a fire, rise from the midst of theeamong thy injured complainers. It shall devour thee; like fire in the house, shall burn it all up, you shall never quench it. The discontented subjects will go to Nebuchadnezzar pleading for his favor, power and royal justice to relieve them, and to right his own subjects oppressed by Tyre in their trade. Nebuchadnezzar’s rage shall not be pacified except in his ruin. The Targum is, I will bring people who are strong as fire, and because of the sins of thy pride they shall destroy thee. When Alexander took Tyre, he ordered all the inhabitants to be slain, except those that fled to the temples, and the houses to be set on fire . . . which literally fulfilled this prophecy; and which may also have respect to the destruction of Rome by fire, because of the sins committed in it (Rev.18:8).
And I will bring thee to ashes upon the Earth, in the sight of all them that behold thee . . . the kings and merchants of the Earth, who shall stand and look on the city as it is burning, and when reduced to ashes; which means the utter destruction of it (Rev.18:9). In the sight of all them that behold thee; all this is done, that all about TYRE shall see, fear and reverence the justice, power and holiness of the GOD of Heaven, who rules among men, and knows how to put in their place the proud atheists (Mat.25:41; Rev.20:15).

Ezekiel 28:19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. (KJV)

All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee . . . people shall be astonished at thee at the fall of such a mighty city, and powerful prince, that would be destroyed at once that, from such a height of prosperity, they would be brought to the lowest state of adversity. This will be the astonishment of kings, merchants and others that knew the riches, power and flourishing state of Rome (Rev.18:17).
Though thou hast been a terror . . . to others by your great power, influence and arms, you shalt never be so ever again. Since kings exceed all others in glory, so often their fall is with great humiliation, that they become a wonder and a terror to all people. This could also refer to the latter days when certain persons, who will be afraid to come close for fear of the same torments and punishment (Rev.18:10).
And never shalt thou be any more . . . Tyre shall never be as she had been after the last destruction; so too, mystical Tyre or Babylon [Rome] shall be no more, when once destroyed (Rev.18:21).

*****At some time in the future, in the latter days, GOD shall get rid of Satan and his kingdom. We are wise if we pray for this day to come! In (28:20-24), judgment is pronounced on Sidon, but NOT complete destruction. There will be blood in the streets, and that is just what happened. It is a matter of history. It is interesting to read that Tyre, the prominent city and capital city, was destroyed, scraped like a rock, never to be rebuilt . . . but Sidon, only about fifteen miles or so from Tyre, was also judged, but was NOT destroyed. That city exists today, and it is the place where oil is brought in from the Near East. It comes by pipeline and is loaded onto ships. Sidon is a thriving port, while down the coast a bit, Tyre lies in ruins, being only a little fishing village there. GOD says that Tyre will never be rebuilt, and it will NOT, because GOD does NOT lie (Tit.1:2). GOD knew exactly what He was talking about then and ALL He has prophesied will one day come true, just as He spoke it! In Chapter 28, He has made some clear-cut prophecies: Tyre would be destroyed and never be rebuilt; Sidon would be judged but not destroyed. Today after about twenty-five hundred years, Tyre is gone, but Sidon is still here.
Zidon, also known as: Sidon, was a fishery town on the Mediterranean coast, about 15 miles north of Tyre. It received its name from the first born of Canaan (Gen.10:15). It was the first home of the Phoenicians on the coast of the Land of Israel, and from its extensive commercial relations became a great city (Josh.11:8; 19:28).  It lay within the lot of the tribe of Ashur, but was never subdued (Judg.1:31). The Zidonians long oppressed Israel (Judg.10:12).
From the time of David, its glory began to decrease, and Tyre, its virgin daughter (Isa.23:12), rose to its place of pre-eminence.
Solomon entered into a matrimonial alliance with the Zidonians, and as a result their form of idolatrous worship found a place in the land of Israel (1 Ki.11:1, 33).
This city was famous for its manufacturing and arts, as well as for its commerce (1 Ki.5:6; 1 Chron.22:4; Eze.27:8).
Zidon is frequently referred to by the prophets (Isa.23:2, 4, 12; Jer.25:22; 27:3; 47:4; Eze.27:8; 28:21-22; 32:30; Joel 3:4).
Our precious LORD Jesus visited the coasts of Tyre and Zidon [Sidon] (Mat.15:21; Mk.7:24; Lk.4:26); and from this region many came forth to hear him preaching (Mk.3:8; Lk.6:17). From Sidon, at which the ship put in after leaving Caesarea, Paull finally sailed for Rome (Acts 27:3-4).
In 1855, the tomb of Eshmanezer was discovered in this city. From a Phoenician inscription on its lid, it appears that he was a king of the Sidonians, probably in the third century B.C., and that his mother was a priestess of Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians. In this inscription Baal is mentioned as the chief god of the Sidonians.

Ezekiel 28:20 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, (KJV)

Again, the word of the Lord came unto me . . . after the prophecy of the destruction of the prince and king of Tyre, the word of the Lord came unto me again, concerning a neighboring city. The word of the Lord came unto me . . . this phrase is found 62 times in the Book of Ezekiel. The Lord GOD indeed had much to say to the people, through this humble and obedient prophet.

Ezekiel 28:21 Son of man, set thy face against Zidon, and prophesy against it, (KJV)

Son of man, set thy face against Zidon . . . set thy face (20:46; 21:2); against Zidon, which was an ancient city, near Tyre, and in association with it, greatly given to idolatry and superstition; and may intend all the anti-Christian states in the spiritual union of the church of Rome (Rev.17). Tyre was an offshoot from it, so that it was involved in the same overthrow by the Chaldeans as Tyre. It is mentioned separately, because its idolatry (the worship of Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Zidonians, Tammuz or Adonis) infected Israel more than that of Tyre did (Eze.8:1-18; Judg.10:6; 1 Ki.11:33). The notorious Jezebel was a daughter of the Zidonian king.
And prophesy against it . . . the prophet is told to look towards this place with a harsh face, as before against Tyre . . . threatening it with ruin, and prophesying against it. Prophesy against it; declare her sins, her approaching sorrows and my judgments against her. Zidon was a very superstitious place, and a great enemy to GOD’S people, Israel.

Ezekiel 28:22 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her. (KJV)

And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD . . . the eternal GOD, the One and Only TRUE GOD, the Maker of Heaven and Earth . . . this is said as a foreword to the prophecy, and to assure the fulfilment of it, as well as in direct opposition to the gods of the Zidonians.
Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon . . . I am angry with thee, and I will come out against thee in my wrath, because of your idolatries and iniquities. The Targum is, behold, I send my fury upon thee, O Zidon:
I will be glorified in the midst of thee . . . not by the conversion of them; nor by acts of religious worship performed by them: not by prayer, not by confession of sin, or thanksgiving; but by GOD’S judgments executed in the midst of them; by pouring out the vials of his wrath on them, as it will also be in the latter days (Rev.15:7; 16:1). Sad the say, there are some who learn only by GOD’S Holy wrath!
And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have executed judgments in her . . . the LORD is known by the judgments He executes, for His judgments are always pure, holy and just, because He is a sin avenging GOD, as well as all-knowing and all-powerful; and this even heathens and anti-Christians shall one day be forced to acknowledge (Ps.9:15-17). Romans 14:11-12 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. (KJV) EVERY knee shall bow: (Ps.72:11; Isa.45:22-25; Phil.2:10; Rev.5:14).
And shall be sanctified in her . . . that is, the Lord GOD shall be declared and owned, to be a GOD, just, holy and righteous in all His ways and works, in Zidon.

Ezekiel 28:23 For I will send into her pestilence, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the LORD. (KJV)

And I will send into her pestilence, and blood into her streets . . . the plague and the sword, which are two of GOD'S sore judgments (14:21) and often go together . . . the pestilence slays them that are within, and the sword kills those the enemy meets with in the streets.
And the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her . . . shall be punished or shall fall, die and perish. This was likely done by Nebuchadnezzar; but certainly by Artaxerxes Ochus the Persian, as the prophet Zechariah had foretold (Zec.9:3-5).  http://www.godcannotlie.org/zec_ch9.htm
By the sword upon her on every side . . . this was literally fulfilled in Zidon, either by Nebuchadnezzar and the Chaldean army, which besieged it on every side; or by Artaxerxes Ochus the Persian, who took it, and destroyed it; and will have its accomplishment on the anti-Christian states, eastern and western, when the vials shall be poured out upon them (Rev.16:1). On every side . . . describes either the siege that Zidon would suffer, or pointing to the multitude of her enemies on every side who disagreed with her.
And they shall know that I am the Lord GOD . . . GOD is well able to foretell things to come, and to bring them about.

Ezekiel 28:24 And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD. (KJV)

And there shall be no more a pricking brier to the house of Israel . . . because GOD will take away the Canaanite out of the land (Zec.14:20-21), and He will by His judgments reveal His own glory, and provide for His people’s comfort. To the church of God, Jews or Gentiles (Gal.3:26-29), particularly to the Jews, who will one day be converted; for all the enemies of Christ and His people will now be destroyed, who have been very grievous and distressing to them by their furious persecutions; the oppressions shall be no more, nor any of the anti-Christian powers; the beast and false prophet will be taken and cast into the lake of fire (Rev.20:10); and there will not be any more hurt and destruction in all the holy mountain (Rev.19:20).
Nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them . . . grieving thorn is the same thing as pricking brier, pricking brier and grieving thorn are two symbols the prophet points out as the troublesome neighbors of the Jews, which speaks of wicked men, especially oppressive princes or kings, who are furious persecutors of the saints, and are like thorns and briers, not only unfruitful, useless and unprofitable, but hurtful to good men, by their persecutions, revilings and reproaches, and whose end is to be burned (Isa.33:12; Heb.6:8). The Targum of the whole is, and there shall be no more to the house of Israel a king that doth evil (or hurt), or a governor that oppresses all round about them that spoil them:
And they shall know that I am the Lord GOD . . . the house of Israel, the Jews now converted, as they will one day be in the latter days, they shall know the LORD Jesus Christ, and acknowledge Him to be their LORD and their King. Zechariah 12:9-10 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. (KJV) . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  http://www.godcannotlie.org/zec_ch12.htm

Ezekiel 28:25 Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob. (KJV)

Thus saith the Lord God, when I shall have gathered the house of Israel . . . when I shall have gathered the house of Israel . . . from their long captivity, God had been preparing the land for them so as to make it a safe place; and so He executed judgments on all the heathen nations all round them by means of the Chaldeans. As a result, Tyre and Sidon were destroyed, as were the Ammonites and others who had been the hardened enemies of the Jews. Judgment first began at His own house, then proceeded to the heathen nations; and when they were brought down, then He visited and redeemed His people. All GOD’S ways are proven to be equal; being partial and having favorites is NOT how He works. In the latter day, upon the destruction of Antichrist, when all Israel shall be saved (Rom.11:26), and when the Jews shall be gathered together. When seventy years is expired, which is the term of their captive state. http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_romans_ch.11.htm
From the people among whom they are scattered . . . several nations were subject to the king of Babylon.
And shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen . . . shall be sanctified, have defended and justified GOD’S Name [Christ Jesus], which by them was before blasphemed.
In the sight of the heathen . . . GOD [Christ Jesus] was dishonored by the Jews in the sight of the heathen, but one day He shall be greatly honored by the Jews, in the sight of heathens. They shall admit they were wrong!
In the latter day, they will profess and own CHRIST as their Saviour and Redeemer in the face of the whole world; whom before they rejected.
Then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob . . . then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob; the land of Canaan, given by Promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; which is only here mentioned, because it was his posterity that was to possess it; not all Abraham's, only those in the line of Isaac; nor all Isaac's, only those in the line of Jacob; but all his; and this they will do when they are converted in the latter day, and be no more a vagrant people, as they now are. They shall have a happy life, for they shall build houses, plant vineyards; and they shall enjoy a happy, secure and serene existence, they shall dwell safely with confidence, and there shall be none to disquiet them or make them afraid ever again!

Ezekiel 28:26 And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God. (KJV)

And they shall dwell safely therein . . . there shall be nothing to make them afraid, for all their enemies would be destroyed. Safely; which is to be understood as safer than before; it must be put up to the circumstances of human condition; in such safety as excludes continual inward cares and fears, and perplexities, as it is said of Laish (Judg.18:7); or as in the days of Solomon (1 Ki.4:25; Job 11:18-19).
And they shall build houses and plant vineyards . . . shall build houses (11:3; 28:26), plant vineyards (Isa.37:30; 65:21).
Yea, they shall dwell with confidence . . . in utmost safety and security, having nothing to fear from any one.
When I have executed judgment upon all those that despise them round about them . . . the Lord GOD took vengeance on them, and utterly destroyed them that despised or spoiled the house of Israel (28:24), the LORD executed judgment upon all those that despised Israel; they all will be cut off, so that there will be NONE to give Israel any more trouble. And too, this looks forward to the latter days when Israel will finally come to know the TRUE Messiah, Jesus Christ (Rev.19:11-21).
And they shall know that I am the LORD their God . . . (28:24), shall know not only that Christ Jesus is GOD, but their GOD, their LORD and their GOD, their Redeemer and their Saviour, whom they in the past denied, persecuted, and pierced. John 19:6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. (KJV)
*****These chastisements of the heathen, following Israel’s chastisement shall be followed by the restoration of repentant Israel, and will make JEHOVAH (Ex.6:3; Ps.83:18; Isa.12:2; 26:4), known as the True GOD throughout all the Earth, indicating the Jews continuance in their land, and their enjoying the blessings of it. Some understand this of churches gathered in the Name of Christ; of which no doubt there will be many in Judea, as in the first times of the Gospel, and more abundantly.

The Lord GOD shall indeed regather Israel. Satan cannot in any way disturb or change the Almighty LORD’S plan and program with the children of Israel. Neither can any false teacher or false prophet dismiss GOD'S plan to restore Israel to her land in peace. Many supposed theologians are believed when they say that GOD is through with the nation Israel, because GOD'S people are not acquainted with Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, and the Minor Prophets. Dear one, all these prophets agree that God is NOT through with Israel as a nation. If only more people would study the Prophets in Word of GOD, they would SEE GOD is NOT through with Israel!

Special Comments

Zidon was on the border of the land of Israel, and they could have learned to glorify the LORD; but instead, they seduced Israel into the worship of their vain idols. War and pestilence are GOD'S messengers of His wrath and His judgment; but He will one day be glorified in the restoration of His people to their long ago safety and prosperity. GOD will cure them of their sins, and ease them of their troubles. This Promise will one day fully come to pass in the heavenly Canaan: when ALL the saints shall be gathered together (Gal.3:26-29), everything that offends shall be removed (Rev.21:8; 22:15), all griefs, fears and sorrow shall forever be banished (Rev.21:4). Happy, then, shall be the TRUE church of GOD, and every living member of it, even though poor, afflicted and despised; for the LORD will display His truth, power and mercy, in the salvation and happiness of His redeemed people.
