IS JESUS GOD?
Introduction

The only correct answer you will ever get will come from God’s Word. The New Testament needs to be considered in the light of the Old Testament, because our Lord, Jesus, and His apostles all looked to the Old Testament as the Word of God. Each verse must be carefully considered and not be taken out of context.

Is Jesus God? The Historical Dispute

No scholar today, who is worth his salt, denies that Jesus was a historic figure who walked on this Earth about 2,000 years ago, and that He did remarkable miracles and healing, and that He died a horrible death on a Roman cross just outside Jerusalem. The dispute arises and centers precisely on one thing: was Jesus really God incarnate who rose from the dead three days after He was crucified?

Is Jesus God? The Only Alternatives

Many people have accepted the FACT that Jesus was a great man, a great teacher, or a great prophet. But, Jesus and His followers declared Him to be God (John 10:30-38, Mat.16:13-17, Mark 14:61-64, John 14:6, Heb.1:8, Col.1:16, John 12:40-41; Isa. 6:1-10). Calling Jesus a "good man" just doesn’t cut it, because there are really only three valid choices for the true identity of Christ Jesus. He was/is either a liar, a lunatic OR our Lord and our God.

Since Jesus claimed to be God, His claims are either true OR false. If false, then He must have been a liar, and He deliberately misled multitudes. Or, He was insane, and He honestly believed that He was God, when all the time He was just a Man. BUT, if Jesus was a "good man," as most agree, how could He be both good and crazy, or good and a liar? There is only one other option! He must have been telling the truth, for that is the only answer left. Jesus is Lord and God. This is what this booklet is about. It is my humble opinion that Jesus is GOD!

Is Jesus God? The Only Answer

Once you have asked all your questions, weighed all the evidence, and checked out all the arguments, you will be confronted with this question. In Mat.16:15, Jesus put it this way, 'But who do you say that I am?' Simon Peter, replied: 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' What do you think? What do you say?

Is Jesus God? Did He ever claim to be God?

Jesus is never recorded in the Bible as saying the exact words, “I am God.” But, that does not mean, that He did not declare that He was/is God. John 10:30 I and my Father are one. (KJV) Some say that here, Jesus is NOT claiming to be God. But, what about the Jews’ reaction to His statement? John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. (KJV) The Jews fully understood Jesus’ statement; they KNEW that He was claiming to be God. In the following verses, Jesus never did correct the Jews. He never did He say, “I did not claim to be God.” To me, it is perfectly clear that Jesus was in fact, saying He was God. John 8:58-59 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. [59] Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. (KJV) WHY? would the Jews want to stone Jesus if He hadn’t said something they believed to be a blasphemous claim to be God?

Is Jesus God?

IF Jesus were not God, His death would NOT. . . could NOT have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. (KJV) Only God could pay for the sins of the world. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (KJV) Only God could die, then resurrect Himself (John 10:17-18), proving His power over sin and death. Jesus is God!
