SALVATION
If the conscience of a person is not persuaded by the Word of
God, God considers this person ‘dead’ (spiritually).
Begging never saves souls, for if it did, I would have gained
many for Jesus; but it does not! No matter how my heart breaks,
no matter how many tears I shed, people cannot be saved by my
begging them to come to Jesus.
It’s possible for people to get away with actual murder
here on Earth; but in the Judgment, you will be accountable for
ALL sins you ever committed if you’re not saved. The only
hope anyone can have is the Blood of Jesus; the Blood He shed
on the cross for you and for me, for the entire world!
Christ Jesus qualifies 100% to be our Saviour, and 100% to be
our Judge. The tears and Blood He so willingly shed, the tremendous
grief He bore in His tender Heart, the excruciating pains He suffered
out of love for mankind, makes Him the kind of Saviour and Judge
I want!
Jesus today is our Advocate in the Heavens above; He’s
our Saviour sitting on the Throne of love. And one day He will
be our Great and Wise Judge, sitting on the Throne of love and
mercy. We will be judged fair and right in every respect! He will
have authority and wisdom to judge every person who has ever lived!
As you read this, you can do one of two things:
- 1. you can accept Jesus as your Saviour and
send your sins ahead to judgment where they will be forgiven
and disposed of while you are still on Earth. Your slate can
be wiped clean, OR
- 2. you can reject Jesus and stockpile your sins
in the books of Heaven where each single sin will be judged
by Christ one day. God will not force you to choose Jesus, its
your choice! What will you do?
Many churches today are NOT teaching the Christ of the Bible!
He is love! YES! IF we obey Him, but for those who refuse to trust
and obey Him; there is only looming judgment waiting.
The Bible does NOT teach everyone will go to Heaven; in fact,
it teaches just the opposite! Only a “few” will ever
make it to Heaven (Mat.713-14). And it does NOT teach that anyone
gets a second chance after death! For unbelievers, after death,
only God’s wrath and judgment remains (Heb. 9:27).
So, how can you be saved from God’s wrath? from sin and
its penalty? from the agonizing and everlasting destruction of
Hell? God made A Plan! One single Plan, and that is Jesus! Only
Jesus! John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth,
and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. [KJV]
The Father is in Heaven. IF you want to go to Heaven you must
go through Jesus! There’s NO other way! See Acts 4:12. NO
other person, NO other god can save you, only Jesus! John
1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he
power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on
his name: [KJV]
1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. [KJV]
You must be “born again” into the family of God to
be His child and His heir. Only Jesus has the power to do that!
Only Jesus holds Heaven’s key! Without Jesus you will cast
into Hell (Rev.20:15; 21:8; John 8:24).
SATAN AND WITCHCRAFT
Introduction
I have thought about doing a booklet on this subject in the past,
but never got around to it. But yesterday I received a letter
from a young woman requesting such a booklet for someone she knew
who is involved in such practices. We don’t have one available;
but that is about to change. I told her I would give the book
serious thought and take it to the Lord in prayer. This morning
I knew I must write the booklet, with God’s help.
In past times, witchcraft and magic were common (Exodus 7:11;
8:18). In recent years it is making a profound comeback. Well
known magazines regularly publish articles on the spirit world.
Horoscopes are in nearly every newspaper in the country. Driving
down city streets it is common to see advertisements of fortune
tellers.
God had strictly forbidden Israel to have anything to do with
divination, sorcery, witchcraft, mediums, spiritists, or anyone
who consults the dead. In fact, sorcerers were to be put to death
(Exodus 22:18). Occult practices were carried on in the name of
pagan gods. The people turned to the occult for answers that God
would not give. Those who practice the occult have Satan and demons
as the source of their information; God does not reveal His will
to them. God speaks through His own channels: the Bible, His Son
Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. You are either for or with
God OR you are against Him and with Satan. You are either a child
of God OR a child of the devil. It’s either white OR black.
There is NO gray area, no straddling the fence.
Deuteronomy 18:9-14 When thou art come into
the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn
to do after the abominations of those nations. [10] There shall
not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter
to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer
of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, [11] Or a charmer, or a
consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
[12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto the
Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth
drive them out from before thee. [13] Thou shalt be perfect with
the Lord thy God. [14] For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners:
but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to
do. [KJV] As you see, God plainly states that ALL witchcraft
and occult practices are an “abomination” to Him!
In other words He hates it; it disgusts Him!
Before I became a child of God, I read the horoscope on a regular
basis. I saw nothing wrong with it. Also, right after I turned
my life over to Christ, I ‘witched for water’ (divination).
The devil had me believing that my supernatural talent came from
God. I really did believe this. I could tell in what direction
water was, I could tell within a few feet how deep the water was,
and I could tell how many gallons a minute the well would produce.
I thought I was truly blessed by God because others could not
do it.
One day someone told me of someone in town who was a ‘wonder
with the rods.’ I figured I’d go and ask him some
questions since I was so new at it. He wasn’t too eager
to give me much information, but the things he told me, made my
flesh crawl. That was my first suspicion that perhaps my so-called
new found talent was NOT of God. I still ‘witched’
for water but I never did any of the other things he told me about.
When we moved here to Texas, I witched for our well. When they
drilled for water, it was almost exactly as I had said; but each
time I picked up the rods, I had a queasy feeling deep within.
I knew that God wanted me to stop -- and stop now. So I made God
a promise that I would never pick up those rods again. I haven’t,
and I’m not sorry.
I will cover different occult practices: fortune telling, divination,
Ouija board, magic, horoscopes, necromancy, signs or miracles,
those who conjure up spells or curses, witchcraft, etc.
ALL of these practices are empowered by Satan or demons. God
has NOTHING to do with any of these.
Can a true believer be demon possessed?
Absolutely NOT! A true believer can be influenced by evil spirits,
but an evil spirit can NEVER possess the body of a believer! We
can be oppressed and depressed by evil spirits but never possessed
by evil spirits. Greater is He that is in you than he that is
in the world (1 John 4:4).
Satan, the Devil
Chapter 1
Many people do not believe that there is truly a devil. Then,
on the other hand, there are many who ‘worship the devil.’
There are so-called churches in a multitude of places where Satan
is the object of worship and admiration. It has been rumored that
sacrifices are offered to him. One pastor said that some of the
little children who mysteriously disappear, are offered up as
a sacrifice to Satan. I don’t know if this is fact or fiction,
but I can see where it could well be true.
When we lived in Arizona, there was a rash of outbreaks on cemetaries
in Phoenix, where graves were being robbed. When the police caught
those who were responsible, one (or more) of the young men had
human skulls in their bedroom. They were members of a ‘church’
that worshipped the devil. The Bible does say there is a devil,
and he is very strong in the world today. He is called “the
dragon,” “the old serpent.” Rev. 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out,
that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth
the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels
were cast out with him. (KJV) Rev. 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is
the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, (KJV)
“The prince of this world” John 12:31 Now
is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world
be cast out. (KJV)
John 14:30 Hereafter
I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh,
and hath nothing in me. [KJV]
“The prince of the power
of the air. ” Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of
this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the
spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: [KJV]
“The god of this world.” 2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this
world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the
light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God,
should shine unto them. [KJV]
Satan has a distinct personality, and he is very active among
people, especially Christians! He hates God and everything connected
with God and wants to turn as many away from God as possible.
He has many ways that he tempts people. He tempted our Lord in
the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11).
He is “Beelzebub, the prince
of the devils” Matthew 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it,
they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub
the prince of the devils. (KJV)
He
is “the constant, never ending enemy of God, of Christ,
of the divine Kingdom, of all the followers of Christ, and of
all truth. He is full of falsehood, lies, deceit and all malice.
Satan will arouse and seduce evil in us in every possible way.
His power is very great in the world.
He is a “roaring lion, hungry
lion seeking whom he may devour” 1
Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary
the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may
devour: (KJV).
Men are said to be “taken
captive by him.” 2 Tim. 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare
of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. [KJV]
God warns us against his “devices.”2
Co.2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us:
for we are not ignorant of his devices. [KJV]
We are to “resist”
the devil. James 4:7 Submit
yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee
from you. [KJV]
Christ redeems His people from the devil.
Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children
are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took
part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that
had the power of death, that is, the devil; (KJV) Satan has
power over death, not as lord, but as assassin.
How to withstand Satan’s attacks.
Ephesians 6:10-17 Finally, my brethren,
be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. [11] Put
on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness
in high places. [13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour
of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having your loins
girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
[15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of
peace; [16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye
shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. [17]
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God: [KJV] As Christians, we battle
against the powerful evil forces of fallen angels headed by Satan.
To stand up against their attacks, we must depend totally on God’s
strength, using every piece armor that He provides for us. Our
whole body needs to be armed. As you then fight against “the
powers of this dark world,” your power will come from the
Holy Spirit.
What we fight against is not “flesh and blood,” but
demons over whom Satan has control. They are not mere illusions—they
are very real! We face a powerful army whose goal is to defeat
Christ and His people. Once we believe in Christ, these evil forces
become our enemies. They will attempt every plan possible to turn
us away from Him and back to sin and the devil. Even though we
are assured of victory, we must engage in this struggle until
Christ returns, because Satan is constantly battling against all
who are on the Lord’s side. Since these forces are supernatural,
we need supernatural power to defeat Satan, and God has provided
this by giving us His Holy Spirit within us, and His armor that
surrounds us. Spiritual strength and courage are needed for our
spiritual warfare. The combat is not against human enemies, nor
against our own corrupt nature; but we have these demons assaulting
our very souls. Don’t sell your soul to the devil for the
few moments of pleasure he offers!
We must resolve by God’s grace, not to yield to Satan.
Resist him, by the power of Jesus, and he will flee. If we give
into him, he will gain ground. If we doubt or distrust our cause,
our Leader, or our armor, we give Satan the advantage.
If you notice, in the armor that God so graciously provides;
there is none for our back!
We must stand tall, and never turn away from God. The righteousness
of Christ fortifies our heart against the attacks of Satan. Expecting
promised victory will purify our soul, and keep it from being
defiled by Satan. Every piece of spiritual armor speaks of Christ.
Let us “put on Christ.” Never leave home without Him!
Prayer joins all the other parts of our Christian armor together.
We must pray with all kinds of prayer; public, private, and secret;
social and solitary; serious and spur of the moment. All parts
of prayer must be included: confession of sin, appealing for mercy,
and praise and thanksgiving for blessings received. We must pray,
not for ourselves only, but for all saints (God’s children).
Our enemies are mighty, and we alone are without strength, but
our Redeemer is almighty, and in the power of His might we shall
overcome.
Remember, prayer is NOT sending your ‘grocery’ list
to God! Tell God that you recognize your enemy and that you need
help! Prayer is limitless. Prayer is a humble request for God’s
grace, mercy and power. ALL effective prayer must be in the Spirit!
WORSHIP OF THE DEVIL
PROHIBITED Chapter 2
Leviticus 17:7 And they shall no more offer
their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring.
This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations. [KJV] The goat idols (demons) were objects of worship and
sacrifice in ancient times, particularly in Egypt from which Israel
had recently escaped. God did not want the people to make this
kind of sacrifice in the desert or in the promised land where
they were heading.
Exodus 20:3-5 Thou shalt have no other gods
before me. [4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image,
or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that
is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
[5] Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for
I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of
the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation
of them that hate me; [KJV]
Deuteronomy 32:17 They sacrificed unto devils,
not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came
newly up, whom your fathers feared not. [KJV] Israel lost
the reputation of their knowledge and their righteousness. They
forsook God, and showing they did not respect or revere Him, they
turned to other gods, here devils. How insane are idolaters, who
forsake the Rock of salvation, by running to the quicksand of
perdition! Would you rather follow God who will lead you to Heaven?
or devils that leads to Hell?
Psalm 106:35 But were mingled among the
heathen, and learned their works. [36] And they served their idols:
which were a snare unto them. [37] Yea, they sacrificed their
sons and their daughters unto devils, [38] And shed innocent blood,
even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they
sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted
with blood. [39] Thus were they defiled with their own works,
and went a whoring with their own inventions. [40] Therefore was
the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that
he abhorred his own inheritance. [KJV] Just what are devils,
or demons? It is an army of invisible, wicked beings, who are
led by their ruler, Satan. They are created beings who rebelled
against their Maker (before man was ever created). When Lucifer
(Satan, the devil) fell, he took with him 1/3 of the angelic host
(Rev.12:4). These wicked angels are the demons who tempt and oppress
us today.
1 Corinthians 10:20 But I say, that the
things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils,
and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship
with devils. [KJV] Christians participate in Christ’s
once-for-all Sacrifice when they eat the bread and drink the wine
which symbolize His Body and Blood. To fellowship with Christ
means to love, obey and identify with His death. To fellowship
with devils means to identify with Satan by worshipping or promoting
pagan (or evil) activities. We cannot lead two lives, following
the desires of both Christ and the world.
Let me clarify the term ‘world.’ It is not the physical
Earth. ‘World’ refers to the evil system headed by
Satan (Ephesians 2:2; James 4;4), which is extremely hostile to
God. Satan tries to make us think we really don’t need God.
Satan tries to implant in us wrong principles, selfish desires,
unsuitable motives and unworthy standards of value. This ‘world
system’ under control of Satan and his demons draws people
away from God, and brings nothing but harm to them; both here
in this life and especially eternity.
Isaiah 14:13-14 For thou hast said in thine
heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above
the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation,
in the sides of the north: [14] I will ascend above the heights
of the clouds; I will be like the most High. [KJV] As you
can see from this Scripture, Satan (Lucifer) is determined to
take God’s place. Notice the “I wills.”
He is proud and arrogant, desperately wanting the worship of all
people, not just the demonic hordes he directs. But, although
Satan does have great power in this world, his power will most
certainly come to an end. Pride was Satan’s sin, and pride
willfully opposes God and shall result in judgment. Israel made
the mistake of being too proud to depend on God, and we are exposed
to that same mistake. All those that will not stop sinning, God
will make them stop. God will assess all those that disturb the
peace of mankind; all who are unholy, from the highest up to the
common folk. Let us learn from this.
THE OCCULT Chapter
3
I am NOT an authority on witchcraft and the occult, nor do I
want to be. I can only tell you that which God places on my heart.
I can only tell you and show you what God’s Word says about
it. And ALL of it is wrong! God hates it! It is an utter abomination
to Almighty God. I gave some thought to doing some research before
I started this booklet. But I knew if I did that, it would show
distrust and doubt in my Lord. I have always trusted Him to give
me wisdom and words. I will stay with that for He has never yet
ever failed me.
Leviticus 19:26-B . . . neither shall ye
use enchantment, nor observe times. (KJV) Do NOT practice
fortune-telling or witchcraft. “Do not. . .” Some
people think the Bible is nothing but a book of don’ts.
Don’t do this. Don’t do that. In a way, that is true.
But, ALL those don’ts are placed in the Bible for our good!
But Jesus neatly summarized all rules when He said to love God
with all your heart, and your neighbor as yourself. He called
these the greatest commandments (or rules) of all (Matthew 22:34-40).
When we carry out Jesus’ simple commands, we find ourselves
following ALL of God’s other laws as well. For God’s
children to have their fortunes told, to use spells and charms,
etc., is a slap in the face to God. People must be totally ignorant
to ask, “What harm is there in these things?” If God
says: “Don’t do it.” Then don’t do it!
Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch
to live. [KJV] Sorcery was punishable by death because it
was a crime against God Himself. To summon or conjure evil powers
violated the first commandment to “have no other gods.”
Sorcery is rebellion against God and His authority. The sum and
substance of it all is that it is teaming up with Satan instead
of with God. Any practice of sorcery shall lead to eternal death
(HELL).
2 Kings 21:6 And he made his son pass through
the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt
with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness
in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger. [KJV]
Manasseh was a very evil king, to the point of sacrificing his
own son to the devil; and he angered God with his sin. Here, his
sins are occult practices: sorcery, divination, consulting mediums
and spiritists. These acts were strictly forbidden by God (Leviticus
19:31; Deut. 18:9-13) because they show a lack of faith in God,
involve sinful actions, and open the door to demonic influences.
Today, books, T.V. shows, and games highlight fortune-telling,
seances, and other occult practices. Please be careful, don’t
let your desire to know what the future holds, or believing that
superstition is harmless, lead you into approving of occult practices.
They are absolute counterfeits of God’s power, and these
beliefs totally oppose God.
Acts 19:18-19 And many that believed came,
and confessed, and shewed their deeds. [19] Many of them also
which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned
them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found
it fifty thousand pieces of silver. [KJV] The city of Ephesus
was a center for black magic and other occult practices. The people
dreamed up magical formulas to give them wealth, happiness, and
success in marriage. Superstition and sorcery were common. God
clearly forbids such practices (Deut. 18:9-13). You cannot be
a TRUE believer and hold on to the occult, black magic, superstition
and/or sorcery. Beware! Once you begin to toy with these things,
it is extremely easy to become obsessed by them, because Satan
is very powerful. But God’s power is even greater (1 John
4:4; Rev. 20:10). If you are mixed up in the occult, please learn
a lesson from the Ephesians and get rid of anything that could
keep you trapped in such practices.

after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go
a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul,
and will cut him off from among his people. [KJV] God warned
about looking to the occult for advice. Mediums and spiritists
were forbidden because God was not the source of their information.
Occult practitioners are fakes whose predictions cannot be trusted.
They are in contact with evil spirits and they are extremely dangerous.
We don’t need to look to the occult for information about
the future. God has given us the Bible so that we may acquire
all the information we need.

“abomination” to Almighty God! No one should offer
their children (or any child) as a sacrifice to the devil. No
one should use the so-called art of “divination.”
An “observer of times” refers to astrology. It is
wrong my friend! There is a great danger in playing with astrology!
Many people today are placing more emphasis on astrology than
the Bible! Stores and magazines are loaded with material on astrology.
The media promotes it. Most people are interested in what your
‘sign’ is. It is an abomination to God! Why? Because
it takes people away from God! It places their trust in something
other than God.
Isaiah 47:11-13 Therefore shall evil come
upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief
shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put if off: and
desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not
know. [12] Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude
of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if
so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.
[13] Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now
the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators,
stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon
thee. [KJV] The people of Babylon looked for advice and help
from astrologers and stargazers. But, like the idols of wood or
gold, astrologers could not deliver themselves from what was to
come from the hand of God. It doesn’t make sense to rely
on people who are powerless? Any alternative to God has its destiny;
that being failure! If you want help, find it in God, who has
proven His power in Creation and in history.
“Charmer, consulter with familiar spirits, or necromancer”
are those people who cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics,
and/or call forth the spirits of the dead.
Satan is behind ALL occult practices, and God forbids us to have
anything to do with it. People are fascinated by horoscopes, fortune-telling,
witchcraft, and bizarre cults. Often their interest comes from
a desire to know and control the future. Be warned! Satan is no
less dangerous today than he was in Moses’ time. In the
Bible, God tells us all we need to know about what is going to
happen. The information Satan offers will be distorted or completely
false. Trust the Holy Spirit to guide you through the Bible. God’s
children don’t need to turn to occult sources for bad information.
Isaiah 8:19 And when they shall say unto
you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards
that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their
God? for the living to the dead? (KJV) Why do people try
to find out the future by consulting mediums and psychics? They
should NOT listen to their mutterings. Can the living find out
the future from the dead? Why not go to God and His Word? People
who consult mediums and spiritists to seek answers from dead people
instead of consulting the living God are foolish to say the least.
Only God alone knows the future, and it is only He that we can
truly trust.
Zechariah 10:2 For the idols have spoken
vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false
dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as
a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd. [KJV]
We often create idols of money, power, fame, possessions or success,
and then we expect them to give us happiness and security. But
these idols can never supply what we need any more than an image
can make it rain. How foolish it is to trust in idols, fortune
tellers or psychics who “comfort in vain.” We need
to trust God’s promises instead.
Micah 3:7 Then shall the seers be ashamed,
and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips;
for there is no answer of God. [KJV] Those who deceive others
should be prepared to one day face God. True prophets of God have
ardent love for God and for the souls of men. Seers and diviners
are out to make a buck at your expense; for what they tell you
does NOT come from God!
Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh
are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
lasciviousness, [20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations,
wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, [21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness,
revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as
I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things
shall not inherit the kingdom of God. [KJV] Witchcraft
is a sin! Heaven will not be yours if you practice it.
DIVINATION Chapter
4
Divination is extrasensory perception, ESP, prognostication,
channeling, fortune telling, prophecy, interpretation of omens,
augury, clairvoyance, clever thinking. It is the act or practice
of trying to foretell the future of the unknown by occult means.
Divining by familiar
spirits
1 Chronicles 10:13 So Saul died for his
transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against
the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel
of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it; [KJV]
King Saul never went to God unless there was nowhere else to turn.
He had tried everything his own way, by going to a medium (witch)
and when he finally asked God, God refused to answer. Saul sought
God only when it suited him, and God rejected him for his constant
stubbornness and rebellion. Make sure you are not like King Saul.
Familiar spirits are spirits of the departed.
Isaiah 19:3 And the spirit of Egypt shall
fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof:
and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to
them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards. [KJV]
The Egyptians were pagans; famous for wisdom and science. God
would give them up to their own evil schemes. They looked to their
idols, charmers, wizards and so-called mediums who consulted familiar
spirits, all under the control of the devil. They did not look
to God.
Divining by entrails
Ezekiel 21:21 For the king of Babylon stood
at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use
divination: he made his arrows bright, he consulted with images,
he looked in the liver. (KJV) Nebuchadnezzar used three ways
to get advice on the future. One was shaking the arrows onto the
ground, to see which course of action was right; the second was
consulting an idol to see if some spirit might direct him; the
third was having his priests inspect the liver of a sacrificed
animal to see if its shape and size would indicate a decision.
All witchcraft!
Divining by idols
2 Kings 23:24 Moreover the workers with
familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols,
and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah
and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the
words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the
priest found in the house of the Lord. (KJV) King Josiah
was one of the few ‘good’ kings. He utterly destroyed
all idols in the land, and exterminated all mediums and psychics.
All witchcraft was put away in his reign.
Divining by rods
or branches
Hosea 4:12 My people ask counsel at their
stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of
whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring
from under their God. (KJV) The “stick of wood”
or divining rod, was a way of trying to tell the future. The people
turned themselves away from God’s authoritative religion
centered in Jerusalem, cutting themselves off from God’s
Word and from His way of forgiveness. Striving to be free from
all restrictions, and to have your rights, can move you completely
out of God’s will. We cannot desert God and be truly happy.
If you have an idol of any kind, destroy it! If you practice witchcraft
in any way, stop it! No one who does such things can inherit the
Kingdom of God (Heaven). No One! Please believe God!
Zechariah 10:2 And I will strengthen them
in the Lord; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith
the Lord. (KJV) People consult idols and fortunetellers,
but the answers they get are lies and nonsense. Some say they
can interpret dreams, but they only mislead you; the comfort they
give is useless. The TRUE prophet states it is foolishness to
make appeals to idols, as their fathers had done. We must receive
our wisdom, strength, guidance and success from God. We must look
up to God the Father and to Christ, His Son. If we stand steadfast
in Him, by Bible study and prayer, trusting and believing Him
in all things; He will unite, support and defend us. He will love
us, comfort us, grant us wisdom, peace, joy and guidance for each
new day. He will NEVER leave us nor forsake us! We can be assured
that His Presence is always near us, for He is IN us in the form
of His Holy Spirit (John 14:17). He will empower us with the Holy
Spirit’s awesome power. He will never say to us: “you
seek me in vain.” God is ALWAYS there for His children,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
WITCHCRAFT
Chapter 5
The word WITCH means “enchantress” or “sorceress”
in the feminine form and “enchanter” in the masculine
form. The “witch of En-dor” (1 Samuel 28) was a necromancer,
one who claimed to hold conversations with the dead. The damsel
with “a spirit of divination” (Acts 16:16) was possessed
by an evil spirit.
God’s laws
against witchcraft
Leviticus 19:31 Regard not them that have
familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by
them: I am the Lord your God. [KJV] Israel was called upon
to be a holy people, because the God of Israel is a holy God (Leviticus
19:2). Today, if we are God’s people through Jesus, we too
are called to be holy. We must be separated from the world and
its wickedness, and be entirely devoted to God. True Christians
should NOT have their fortunes told, read horoscopes, use spells
or carry medals or charms. ALL these things disturb God because
it places our trust and faith on something other than Him. They
must be totally ignorant who ask: “What harm is there in
these things?” There is harm! Or God would never had made
laws against it!
Leviticus 20:6 And the soul that turneth
after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go
a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul,
and will cut him off from among his people. (KJV) If you
go for advice to people who consult the spirits of the dead, God
will turn against you and will no longer consider you one of His
people.
Leviticus 20:27 A man also or woman that
hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put
to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall
be upon them. (KJV) Everyone is curious in what the future
holds. But God warns about looking to witchcraft for advice. Mediums,
psychics, wizards and spiritists were forbidden because the devil
was the source of their information, not God! Those who practice
witchcraft are fakes whose predictions cannot be trusted. They
are in contact with evil spirits and are extremely dangerous.
We do not need to look to any form of witchcraft for information
about the future. God has placed in the Bible all the information
we need! And the Bible’s teaching is true and trustworthy
because it comes straight from God Himself! May we have wisdom
to beautify the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things; may
we have NO fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness, but condemn
them instead.
Micah 5:12 And I will cut off witchcrafts
out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers: [KJV] SOOTHSAYER is one who pretends to predict future events.
Some were diviners of the clouds, some were astrologers, who would
predict your future from the place of the stars at one's birth,
and by different ways of computing and divining, would foretell
the fortunes and destinies of individuals. MUCH of this goes on
today! It is ALL an abomination to Almighty God.
Deuteronomy 18:22 When a prophet speaketh
in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to
pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the
prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid
of him. (KJV) If a prophet predicts something in the Lord's
Name and it does not happen, the Lord did not give the message.
That prophet has spoken on his own and need not be feared.
SIGNS and LYING
WONDERS Chapter 6
Matthew 16:1-4 The Pharisees also with the
Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them
a sign from heaven. [2] He answered and said unto them, When
it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is
red. [3] And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for
the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the
face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
[4] A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and
there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet
Jonas. And he left them, and departed. [KJV]
The Pharisees and Sadducees were Jewish religious leaders of two
different parties, and their views were opposite on many issues.
The Pharisees followed religious rules and traditions, believing
this was the way to God. They also believed in the authority of
all Scripture and in the resurrection of the dead. The Sadducees
accepted only the books of Moses as Scripture and did not believe
in life after death. But these two groups had a common enemy,
Jesus, and they joined forces to try to kill Him. The Pharisees
and Sadducees demanded a sign from Heaven. They considered Jesus’
other miracles as sleight of hand or use of evil power, but they
believed that only God could do a sign in the sky. They felt sure
this would be beyond Jesus’ power. Even though Jesus could
have easily done any sign or miracle, because He is God, He refused.
He knew that even a miracle in the sky would not convince them
He was the Messiah because their hearts were hardened against
Him and they wouldn’t believe Him. The Pharisees and Sadducees
were so opposed to each other in principles and in conduct; yet
they banded together against Christ in their desire to kill Him.
They demanded a sign of their own choosing. They hated and ignored
the miracles which aided and restored the sick and sorrowful.
They wanted more, something that would gratify their curiosity.
Just what does Jesus mean
when He says:
Matthew 16:4 A
wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there
shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.
And he left them, and departed. (KJV) Jesus
said that only an evil, faithless, doubting people would ask for
miracles, to prove He is who He said He was; but the only sign
He will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. By using Jonah
as a sign, who was inside a great fish for three days, Jesus was
predicting His death and resurrection.
Matthew 12:40 For
as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly;
so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the
heart of the earth. [KJV] Many people say:
“If I could just see a miracle, then I would believe in
God.” But Jesus’ response to the Pharisees applies
to us. We have plenty of evidence: Jesus’ birth, His death,
His resurrection, His ascension to Heaven, and centuries of His
work in believers around the world. Instead of looking for more
evidence or more miracles; accept what God has already given us.
Jesus said there would be NO MORE signs or miracles! Are you going
to believe Jesus, or those out there who refuse to believe His
words, “NO MORE miracles”? Many people today flock
to see ‘miracles’ such as a statue (idol) crying,
clouds that resemble a person, etc. I do not keep up with this
nonsense, so I can’t give any more examples. One such outrage
was a few years back in Louisiana. My daughter called. She was
terribly excited! She said she would send pictures the next day.
“Mom, you have got to see this!” she said. The pictures
came a few days later. Masses of people were flocking to see this
‘miracle’! I think each person was paying $5.00 to
see it. If you took a picture in a certain direction, you could
see a ‘cross’ in the picture. Sure enough, the pictures
she sent; a ‘cross’ was in each of them! This is NO
miracle! Any time, any where, you take a picture, into the sun,
you get that effect!
Are you one of those people who flock to see these so-called
‘miracles’? If you are, you do NOT believe God! You
doubt Him and His Words. You are foolishly chasing after the devil’s
rainbow! God’s Holy Word very plainly states there will
be NO MORE miracles! Jesus again warns us in the 24th chapter
of Matthew.
Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall
shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,
they shall deceive the very elect. [KJV] Jesus’ Words. (Also see Mark 13:22). False
teachers and false prophets are working overtime today! MOST nice-sounding
messages do not agree with God’s message in the Bible. Only
a solid foundation in God’s Word can equip us to see these
errors and distortions. Our Saviour cautions His disciples to
stand their guard against false teachers. We should look with
suspicion upon any ‘miracle’ or ‘miracle worker,’
for the so-called miracles today are NOT coming from God, but
from the devil and his demonic forces. There is a ‘miracle
man’ soon to come, whom we will discuss in the next chapter.
Is it possible for Christians to be deceived? YES! There will
be many convincing arguments and proofs (miracles) from deceivers
(followers of Satan) in the end times that it will be difficult
not to “fall away” from Christ. A TRUE Christian CANNOT
“fall away” from Christ (the faith), but a false Christian
can. We can be prepared, Jesus tells us we can remain faithful.
We need to avoid any and ALL false doctrine, and any and ALL forms
of witchcraft.
If
you truly desire to quit witchcraft, God will open a door of escape
for you. Get out as fast as you can or you may be selling your
soul to the devil. He did it for me, He can and will do it for
you!
Deuteronomy 13:1-3 If there arise among
you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign
or a wonder, [2] And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof
he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which
thou hast not known, and let us serve them; [3] Thou shalt not
hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams:
for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the
Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. (KJV) Charming leaders are many times (most often) led by the
devil. Always check them out. Are they telling the truth? Are
they directing you toward some form of idolatry or witchcraft?
It is possible to say the right words but still lead people in
the wrong direction. If a person is well accepted by the world,
he/she is more than likely of the devil. When you hear a new,
attractive idea, check it out carefully before getting too excited.
The EVIL, MIRACLE
MAN Chapter 7
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 Let no man deceive
you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come
a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son
of perdition; [4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all
that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth
in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. [KJV]
We should firmly believe in the second coming of Christ. It is
enough for us to know that our Lord will come, and will gather
all His saints to Himself. Here is just one place that God gives
us some hints as what would come to be before Jesus comes at the
Rapture. There would be a general “falling away” (apostasy)
first, such as would result in the rise of Antichrist, that man
of sin. There are some who think this extraordinary man is already
here on Earth, ready to take hold of the office of ‘ruler
of the world.’ There are great disputes who or what is intended
by this man of sin and son of perdition. The ‘man of sin’
not only practices wickedness, but he also promotes it, and commands
sin and wickedness in others. He is the ‘son of perdition,’
because he is faithful to the certain destruction of all good.
He is the instrument that will destroy many people, both body
and soul. As God was in the temple in the Old Testament, and was
worshipped there, and is today in and with His church; so this
evil antichrist will usurp God’s authority and power in
the world wide church. He will claim Divine honors.
Throughout history there have been individuals who epitomized
evil and were hostile to everything that Christ Jesus stands for.
These antichrists have lived in every generation and shall continue
to work their evil.
Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there
be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from
the living God. (KJV) Just before Christ’s Second Coming,
“the man of lawlessness” . . a completely evil man
doomed to destruction,” will arise. He will be Satan’s
tool, equipped with Satan’s power.
2 Thes. 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after
the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, (KJV) This lawless man will be the Antichrist. God is in
control, and He shall be totally victorious over the Antichrist.
Our job is to be ready for Christ’s return and to spread
the Gospel so that more people will also be prepared.
One thing I would like to add: Satan is NOT omnipresent! Only
God is omnipresent, meaning that God is everywhere at the same
time. The devil does NOT have this power, nor will he ever have
it! Satan can only be in one place at a time. He must depend on
his demon forces (or his children, 1 John 3:10) to carry out his
wickedness. God, on the other hand, is everywhere! all at once!
1 Tim. 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly,
that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving
heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (KJV) God plainly tells us there will
be a turning away (apostasy) from God and to the devil and seducing
spirits. Take a minute to consider this: would you rather follow
the devil and all his wickedness? Do you want to follow him .
. . right into Hell? Because if you are in any form of idolatry
or witchcraft, that is exactly where you are headed! FACT! TRUTH!
Rev. 19:19-20 And I saw the beast, and the
kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make
war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. [20]
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought
miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received
the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These
both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. (KJV)
Matthew 25:41 Then
shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me,
ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his
angels: (KJV) There is a judgment coming,
in which every person who has ever lived, shall be sentenced:
#1 to a state of everlasting happiness (Heaven), OR #2 everlasting
agony (Hell). Christ Jesus is the Great Shepherd, and He shall
separate all those who are His sheep, and those who are not His
sheep. He will NOT make any mistakes! Not one! Any and all who
follow the devil shall go where he goes . . . to Hell, as this
verse states. Yes! There absolutely is a Hell! It has been prepared
by God, for the devil and ALL who foolishly follow him. Please,
please, if you are dabbling in any form of witchcraft, get out
now! Your body is temporary, but your soul is eternal. It shall
positively live forever . . . in Heaven OR in Hell. You may not
like what I say, but it is the Truth!
WORSHIP of ANGELS
Chapter 8
Angels are created beings, whom God engages in carrying out His
government of the world. “Angel” does not imply to
their nature but to their office as messengers and servants. The
existence and orders of angelic beings can be discovered only
from the Scriptures. The Bible does not speak on this subject
specifically, but there are many details that furnish us with
ample information. Their personal existence is plainly implied
in such passages as Genesis 16:7, 10-11; Judges 13:1-21; Matthew
28:2-5; Hebrews 1:4; etc. These superior beings are many “thousand
thousands,” “legions” (Daniel 7:10; Matthew
26:53; Luke 2:13; Hebrews 12:22-23). Angels are spoken of as different
ranks in honor and power (Daniel 10:13; Ephesians 1:21).
As to their nature, they are spirits (Hebrews 1:14), like the
soul of man. They do not have a physical body, but I think they
have some sort of substance. But there are many times in Scripture
that angels take on a touchable and visible form. The Bible states
there are good (holy) angels and there are bad (wicked) angels,
but that was not always so.
When God created the angels, probably long before He created
the universe, He created the angels as He did man; giving the
angels the ability to choose between right and wrong. God does
NOT want the obedience of ‘robots.’ He wants us to
choose the right road, but all too often, like the wicked angels,
we choose to follow the devil.
As infinite creatures, they could fall into temptation; for we
read of “fallen angels.” The cause and way of their
“fall” is not told unto us. We do know that they “left
their first estate” (Mat.25:41; Rev.12:7,9), and that they
are “reserved unto judgment” (2 Pet.2:4). I think
the time of temptation fro angels is passed. I believe that a
holy angel now, can never fall; and that a wicked angel can never
again become a holy angel.
Many times angels appeared to man in human form (Luke 24:4; Acts.1:10),
and too, many times in the Old Testament. Titles that are applied
to them “sons of God” (Job 1:6; 38:7; Dan.3:25), seems
to indicate there is some resembelance between angels and the
human race. They are not perfect beings (Job 4:18). Manna is called
“angel’s food” ssimply to show its worth (Ps.78:25).
Angels never die (Luke 20:36). They have super intelligence and
power (Mark 13:32; 2 Thes.1:7; Ps.103:20). They are called “holy”
(Luke 9:26), “elect” (1 Tim.5:21). The redeemed saints
in glory are “like unto the angels” (Luke 20:36).
God tells us we are NOT to worship angels!
Col. 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your
reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding
into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by
his fleshly mind, (KJV) BEWARE! Some false teachers claim that God is so far away that He can
be approached only through different levels of angels. Do NOT
believe this. This is hog wash! They falsely teach that people
must worship angels if they ever want to rach God. This is absolutely
uncsriptural! The Bible teaches that angels are God’s servants,
and it forbids us from worshipping them. Always let God’s
Word be your guide, not the opinions of other people, or the devil.
Exodus 20:3-4 Thou shalt have no other gods
before me. [4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image,
or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that
is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: (KJV) These verses plainly tell us we are to worship NOTHING
in the heavens, in the Earth or in the waters; only God!
Rev. 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship
him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant,
and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship
God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (KJV)
Rev. 22:8-9 And I John saw these things,
and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to
worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
[9] Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant,
and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings
of this book: worship God. (KJV) The angel commands John
to “worship God!” God alone is worthy of our worship
and adoration, NO person, this means NO PERSON (dead or alive),
it means we are NOT to worship departed saints, NO angel (good
or bad), or NO idol of ANY kind! God is above ALL Creation . .
. including the angels! Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou
shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy
soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great
commandment. (KJV)
TWO MASTERS
Two masters are in the world today,
And each person, just one can obey.
You have a choice; and no one will shove,
Do you want Hell? or Heaven above?
One ‘Master’ is Christ, the Son of God,
The other is Satan; a complete fraud!
Jesus will save you, and make you free,
With Satan, it’s Hell, for eternity!
Christ is the ‘Master’ of God’s children,
Loving, pure and just; always has been.
Satan will blind your heart and your eyes,
Tempting, lying, and Christ he defies!
Following Satan will put you in Hell,
Made for the devil; and with him you’ll dwell.
If you follow Christ, you’ll live with Him,
In wondrous Heav’n, where ‘tis never dim.
Which of these ‘Masters’ is yours this day?
One or the other; it’s the only way!
I pray you choose the Lord of Creation,
Just He can give eternal salvation!

Resist Satan, and he’ll flee from you,
The power of Christ will see you thru’.

our success and victory over Satan! When we submit to God, the
old devil will flee from us (James 4:7). God’s power is
much, much stronger than Satan’s power. Who will you follow?

To chain your heart is Satan’s desire,
You must beware, for he is a liar.
With Satan, you must never converse,
He’s sly and brilliant, and so perverse.
Satan will cast a chain, ‘round your heart,
You must beware, and from him depart.
He’ll make his way seem the right way to go,
But his way leads only to Hell below.
Satan’s just waiting, your heart to chain,
You must from his temptations refrain.
Turn your heart over to Christ our Lord,
Then, to Satan, your heart is barred!

deceitful, dishonest, connivibg, corrupt and filled with wickedness.
Jesus is his enemy; and when you turn to Jesus as Saviour and

SATAN’S TRICKS
Satan will blind you to what is true,
Making false things shine, as bright as new!
The devil is sly, he will deceive,

Trying to drive you and Jesus apart!
The devil is desperate with his lies,

And he will give you all wrong words to say.
He’ll try to win by pure deception,
Turns you from Christ, wants your rejection!
Satan will guide you down the wrong road,
And give you a heavy, cumbersome load!
Trials and troubles, he’ll surely bring,
But, he’ll not win, if to Christ we’ll cling!
Satan will turn your friends against you,
Also your fam’ly, who were so true.
Satan hates Christ, and when Him you accept,
He’ll try to make you forget and reject!
Don’t fall into the old devil’s snare,
Turn instead, to our Saviour who cares!
Submitting to Christ, keeps Satan back,
For His Spirit keeps you on the right track!
Our dear Lord Jesus, is always near,
So, Satan’s attacks we need not fear.
God’s children have Someone, much more great!
So we need not let Satan dominate!

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be
vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion,
walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (KJV)
In our Christian life we have a constant battle against the powerful
evil forces of fallen angels headed by Satan. He is a reprehensible,
corrupt, malicious, immoral, vile and vicious warrior. If we want
to have any chance at all against this despicable, detestable
evil power, we must believe God, depend on His strength and use
every piece of His armor. As you battle against “the powers
of this dark world,” fight in the strength of the Holy Spirit.
Those who are not “flesh and blood” are demons under
Satan’s control. They are not imaginary; they are very real.
We face a powerful army whose goal is to defeat Christ and His
people. When we believe in and accept Christ and His work on the
cross, Satan and these beings become our enemies, and try every
way possible to turn us away from Jesus and back to sin. Born
again believers are assured of victory, but we must engage in
this never ending struggle until Christ returns, because Satan
is constantly battling against all who are on the Lord’s
side. We cannot win on our own; we need supernatural power to
defeat Satan, and God has provided this by giving us His Holy
Spirit within us and His armor surrounding us. When you feel in
doubt or discouraged, remember Jesus’ words to Peter.
Matthew 16:18 And
I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock
I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail
against it. (KJV)
Choose the right
side in this war!
Born again Christians, TRUE believers, are in an on-going spiritual
battle. All believers, (God’s children) find themselves
subject to Satan’s attacks because they are no longer on
Satan’s side. We must use every piece of God’s armor
to resist Satan’s attacks and to stand true to God in the
midst of those attacks.
Ephes. 6:10-17 Finally, my brethren, be
strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. [11] Put on
the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness
in high places. [13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour
of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having your loins
girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
[15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of
peace; [16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye
shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. [17]
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God: (KJV)
God’s
Armor, Its Use and Application
Belt/ Truth Satan fights with lies, and sometimes
his lies sound like truth; but only believers have God’s
Truth, and only God’s Truth can defeat Satan’s lies
Breastplate/ Righteousness Satan often attacks
our hearts (the seat of our emotions, self-worth, and trust).
God’s righteousness is the breastplate that protects our
hearts and ensures His approval. He approves of us because He
loves us and sent His only begotten Son to die for us.
Footgear/ Be Ready We must spread the Good News
of Jesus! Satan wants us to think that telling others the Gospel
is a worthless and hopeless task and that the size of the job
is too big. He tries to convince us that we are not able, and
that the negative responses will be too much for us to handle.
But the footgear God gives us is the motivation to continue to
proclaim the true peace that is available in God; news everyone
needs to hear. Our shoes are the peace that comes from the Gospel.
Be ready to spread the Good News that gave us peace, and shall
give peace to others.
Shield/ Faith Satan attacks in many ways: lies,
insults, setbacks, and temptations. But the shield of faith protects
us from Satan’s flaming arrows. With God’s perspective,
we can see beyond our circumstances and know that absolute victory
is ours.
Helmet/ Salvation Satan wants us to doubt God
the Father, Jesus the Son, and our salvation. The helmet protects
our minds from doubting God’s saving work for us.
Sword/ The Spirit, the Word of God The sword
(Bible) is the only weapon of offense in this list of armor. There
are times when we need to take the offensive against Satan. When
we are tempted, we must trust in the Truth of God’s Word.
