Special Comments for Psalm 2

The false teachers refused to remember (or admit) that God judged the world, just like multi-millions today! God’s WORD created the firmament. He commanded the Earth to appear out of the water and it did! (Gen.1:9-10). Every plant and animal needs water to keep it alive (Gen.2:5-6).
There was a judgment in the pre-Adamic world, before man was put here (Isa.14:12-14; Rev.12:9).
Things that People Are Willingly Ignorant Of:

  • #1. That by the Word of God the Heavens were created of old (2 Pet.3:5; Ps.68:33; 102:25; Mic.5:2).
  • #2. That the Earth was established in and out of water (2 Pet.3:5; Ps.24:2; 136:6).
  • #3. That "the world that then was" (2 Pet.3:6; Gen.1:2; Ps. 104:5-9; Jer.4:23-26; Isa.14:12-14; Eze.28:11-17).
  • #4.That with the God who inhabits eternity, a thousand years is like a day and a day like a thousand years. (2 Pet.3:8-9; Ps.90:4; Isa.57:15; Eph.3:11).
  • #5. That the Lord is NOT slack concerning His Promises but is longsuffering to all men, wishing that all would come to repentance (2 Pet.3:9; 1 Tim.2:4; Rev.22:17).
  • #6. That the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night, in which day (the end of it) the heavens and the earth will be renovated and made new a third time (2 Pet.3:10-13; Isa.65:17; 66:22-24; Rev.21-22).
  • #7. That all rebellion will then be put down (2 Pet.3:13; 1 Cor. 15:24-28).
  • #8. That the righteous natural people left on Earth after the war (Rev.20:7-10) will multiply and replenish the new Earth forever, carrying out God's original program for Adam, as would have been done if man had not sinned (2 Pet.3:13; Gen.1:26-31; 8:22; 9:12; Isa.9:6-7; Dan.7:13-14,27; Mat.25:34,46; Lk.1:32-33; Rev. 11:15; Rev. 21:1 through Rev. 22:5).
  • #9. That the resurrected saints, will be heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ and will reign as kings and priests on Earth (2 Pet.3:13; Ps.149:5-9; Rom. 8:17; 1 Cor.4:8; 6:2; Eph.2:7; 2 Tim. 2:12; 2 Thes.1:4-10; Rev.1:6; 2:26-27; 5:9-10; 11:15; 20:4-6; 22:5).

This ignorance of the Biblical facts is not God's fault. These ignorant ones are willingly ignorant, choosing to remain in darkness, and scoffing at the Second Coming of Christ, denying Him who bought them with His own blood (2 Pet. 2:1; 3:5,8-10). They shut their eyes to the light so abundantly offered to them and refuse to believe any and all evidence that it is a FACT!

The wrath of the Lamb is a paradox (a statement that seems to contradict itself, but in fact is true). GOD created the lamb to represent CHRIST. The Lamb is a symbol of gentleness and meekness. From the days of Abel to John the Baptist, Christ is depicted as a Lamb. But, just suppose this Lamb were to get angry. What then? What about the ‘other side’ of CHRIST? The wrath? Jesus DID get angry (John 2:15), and He made a whip and chased the money changers out of the Temple. JESUS is GOD! He is righteous and holy and pure; and He hates everything that is contrary to Himself! He does NOT hate what you and I hate, He is NOT vindictive or malicious. Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (KJV) If we look at the world around us, we can’t help but see it revealing the wrath of GOD. CHRIST the Lamb, will one day be the supreme Judge of ALL mankind whether you accept this fact or not. And He will most certainly show and express His wrath on ALL ungodliness. His wrath and judgment shall absolutely come! Christians (TRUE believers, TRUE children of GOD) are called to an already definite course; that strait and narrow path that leads to eternal life (Mat. 7:13-14). NOT all people are GOD’S children as some false teachers teach! NOT everyone will go to Heaven. Just those who believe and accept JESUS as SAVIOUR and LORD (John 1:12-13; 3:3; 1 John 5:10-12). We must be bold for the cause of CHRIST, boldly speaking the Truth about Him (Gospel), and living and serving Him every day that we live. Remember, whatever we go through, He is always with us (Mat.28:18-20; Heb.13:5; Phil.4:13). http://www.hisservants.org/will_christ_be_judge_h_s.htm

Psalm 2 Prophecies Fulfilled in New Testament

#1. The enmity of kings foreordained. Psalm 2:1-3 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, 3  Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. (KJV) Fulfilled: Acts 4:25-28 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? 26  The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. 27  For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, 28  For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. (KJV)
#2. To own the title, Anointed (Christ). Psalm 2:2-3 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,  3  Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. (KJV)  Fulfilled: John 1:41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. (KJV) Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. (KJV)
#3. His Character-Holiness.  Psalm 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. (KJV) Fulfilled: John 8:46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? (KJV) Revelation 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; (KJV)
#4. To own the title King.  Psalm 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. (KJV) Fulfilled:  Matthew 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. (KJV)
#5. Declared the Beloved Son. Psalm 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. (KJV)  Fulfilled: Matthew 3:17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (KJV) Romans 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: (KJV)
#6. The Crucifixion and Resurrection confirmed. Psalm 2:7-8  I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. 8  Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. (KJV) Fulfilled: Acts 13:29-33 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre. 30  But God raised him from the dead: 31  And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people. 32  And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, 33  God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. (KJV)
#7. Rule the nations with a rod of iron.  Psalm 2:8-9 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 9  Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. (KJV) Fulfilled: Revelation 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. (KJV)  Revelation 11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. (KJV) Revelation 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (KJV)
#8. Life comes through faith in Him. Psalm 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. (KJV) Fulfilled: John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (KJV)

Psalm 8 Prophecies Fulfilled in New Testament

#1. The mouths of babes perfect His praise. Psalm 8:2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. (KJV) Fulfilled: Matthew 21:16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? (KJV)
#2. His humiliation and exaltation. Psalm 8:5-6 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. 6  Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: (KJV) Fulfilled: Hebrews 2:5-9  For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. 6  But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? 7  Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: 8  Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. 9  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. (KJV)

Psalm 16 Prophecies Fulfilled in New Testament

#1. Would not see corruption. Psalm 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (KJV) Fulfilled: Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. (KJV) Acts 13:35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (KJV)
#2. Was to arise from the dead. Psalm 16:9-11 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. 10  For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 11  Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. (KJV) Fulfilled: Acts 20:9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. (KJV)
What is the Shekinah Glory?
What is Shekinah Glory? Is This In The Bible?

Glory of GOD, Shekinah: (Eze.1:28; 3:12, 23; 8:4; 9:3; 10:19; 11:22-23; 39:21; 43:2, 4-5; 44:4)
JESUS’S glory as GOD was veiled in human flesh but at times His glory, the so-called Shekinah glory, was revealed.  What is the Shekinah glory of GOD?

Shekinah
What does the word “Shekinah” mean?  It is not in the Bible, so why do we need to know what this word means regarding GOD’S Glory?  The word Shekinah is from the Hebrew word “shekinot” and actually is in the Bible where GOD is said to “settle in” or “dwell with.”  This word means where GOD is dwelling, settling or where His Divine Presence is.  This Glory is seen when GOD’S glory filled the Temple and even in the wilderness where He was a light during the night and the Shekinah cloud of His Glory shaded Israel in the scorching sun of the desert.  His Presence was revealed by the intense light that filled the Tabernacle, the Temple in Jerusalem and even in the Transfiguration on the Mount (Mat. 17), where JESUS shone as bright as the sun when He spoke with Moses and Elijah.

JESUS’ Glory of the Transfiguration
JESUS partially revealed His Shekinah Glory on a mountain and allowed Peter, James and John to see this awesome Glory. This is why the Apostle John said that JESUS “dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father” (Jn.1:14); and that JESUS is “the light of men.” John 1:4-7 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. (KJV) . . . CHRIST JESUS is the very essence and nature of GOD as light and that is part of His Shekinah Glory which was why John said “we have seen his glory.”

The Transfiguration is where JESUS allowed Peter, James and John to see His Glory in Matthew 17:1-8. It is where JESUS for a very short time, peeled back His humanity to allow the disciples to see the very Shekinah Glory of GOD. It overwhelmed them just as it does to anyone where GOD reveals His Glory. Humans are like dead men when they see this awesome Glory of GOD!
Genesis 17:3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, (KJV)
Leviticus 9:24 And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces. (KJV)
Ezekiel 1:28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake. (KJV)
Ezekiel 3:23 Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face. (KJV)
Daniel 8:18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright. (KJV)
Daniel 10:8-9 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
9  Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
(KJV)
Daniel 10:17-19 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. 18  Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me, 19  And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me. (KJV)
Habakkuk 3:16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops. (KJV)
Matthew 17:2-6 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3  And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4  Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5  While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
6  And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
(KJV)
Acts 9:4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? (KJV)
Revelation 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: (KJV)

Everyone will see the LORD someday in all His splendor, majesty and Shekinah Glory and ALL will fall down before Him on bended knees.
Isaiah 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. (KJV)
Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to GOD. (KJV)
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of JESUS every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; (KJV) . . . Some (a few Mat.7:14), will do so willingly as He is their Saviour, LORD and King but for others, they will wait until He becomes their Judge (     Jn.5:22, 27; 2 Tim.4:1, 8; 1 Pet.4:5; Rev.19:11), when He shall send them off into eternal torment (Rev 20:11-15). GOD CANNOT dwell where there is unconfessed sin or where someone has not repented and trusted in CHRIST. It is YOUR decision which of two places you will spend eternity: Heaven or Hell! That day to decide should NOT be put off because today is the day of salvation (2 Cor. 6:2), for tomorrow you may not be here . . . and it will be your day of condemnation (Jn.3:18, 36; 8:24).

The Lord GOD’S Shekinah Glory
Most people have little, or NO understanding of what the Shekinah Glory of the LORD GOD is, let alone realize the prophetic importance of this awesome Appearance of Almighty GOD. The Jewish rabbis invented this extra-biblical expression, and it is form of a Hebrew word that literally means "he caused to dwell" suggesting that it was/is a Divine Visitation of the awesome Presence or Dwelling of the Lord GOD on this Earth. In order to fully understand the prophetic Passages in the Book of Revelation, we need to carefully understand the idea of the physical appearances or displays of our Creator GOD.
Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord GOD Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. (KJV)   http://www.GODcannotlie.org/rev_ch21.htm
The city has no need for the sun or the moon to shine in it, because GOD’S Shekinah gives it light, and its Lamp is the Lamb. This is very important. The word Shekinah (Sh'khinah) was devised from related words in the Bible which describe the PRESENCE of Jehovah. The word Shekinah is not found in the Bible, but the idea clearly is. Shekinah is also used to describe the spiritual Shekinah Presence in the Tabernacle and later in the first and second Temples.

The word Shekinah is defined in the Encyclopedia Judaica as the Divine Presence, the numinous (spiritual) immanence of GOD in the world . . . a revelation of the holy in the midst of the profane. The Encyclopedia goes on to say: One of the more prominent images associated with the Shekhinah is that of light.

Throughout the Bible the Lord GOD speaks of His desire to have a close relationship with His people. During the time of Moses the added PHYSICAL Shekinah Presence was evidence of the REAL Presence which is omnipresent and unseen. During the Mosaic dispensation the Shekinah was physically disturbing. The Presence then was NOT spiritual . . . it was a PHYSICAL APPEARANCE of the actual Presence of the Lord GOD among His people.
We are to know that there is a difference from the Shekinah and the angel of the LORD. The Shekinah was first apparent when the Israelites set out from Succoth in their escape from Egypt. There it appeared as a cloudy pillar in the day and a fiery pillar by night.
Exodus 13:21-22 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: 22  He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. (KJV)
The physical Shekinah was also evident at the crossing of the Red Sea.
Exodus 14:24-25 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, 25  And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians. (KJV)
The Israelites were led by the physical Shekinah for 40 years, after which the Holy Presence of the omniscient GOD inhabited the Tabernacle and the land of Israel. The Shekinah was not always afterwards physically manifested.
Numbers 35:34 Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel. (KJV)
Exodus 25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. (KJV)
When Moses and the Israelites finished erecting the Tabernacle, the Shekinah of GOD filled it (Ex.6:3; Ps.83:18; Isa.12:2; 26:4).

Special Comments for Psalm 22

Some say that the only way JESUS could pay the penalty for our sins is to spend eternity in Hell. That is not true. JESUS paid the eternal penalty of sins for all who would believe through His one-time, once for all Sacrifice on the cross for sin.
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: (KJV)
Because JESUS is GOD Incarnate, He could pay the eternal penalty of human sin in ONE ultimate Sacrifice.

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (KJV) . . .  Peter refers to JESUS as the Suffering Servant of Isaiah Chapter 53.
http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_isaiah_suffering_servant_intro.htm

JESUS bore our sins in His Body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds we have been healed. The once for all Sacrifice and wounds of CHRIST on the cross sufficiently paid for our sins, that He can offer us justification, IF we believe GOD (1 Jn.5:10-13), and accept His work on the cross by faith (Rom.5:1).

Besides paying the ultimate price of death on the cross, JESUS was also the ultimate Being to be sacrificed. He was without spot of blemish (1 Pet.1:19; 2:22-24; 3:18; Dan.9:24). In other words, Perfect GOD in Human form was the Perfect Sacrifice. As a result, payment in full has been made on behalf of human sin . . . IF we simply believe this and accept it! All that a person has to do reach out and accept the GIFT of salvation GOD has so graciously provided for us.
John 1:12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (KJV)
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV)
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (KJV)
1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
(KJV)

Before the death of JESUS, Jewish priests were required to repeatedly offer sacrifices on behalf of the sins of the people. But when CHRIST JESUS had offered a single Perfect Sacrifice for sins, for all time, He sat down at the right Hand of GOD. Hebrews 10:11-12 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; (KJV)
NO more sacrifices are needed! No longer were repeated sacrifices necessary; CHRIST'S Sacrifice was and is sufficient for all time. Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. (KJV)

The perfect GOD-MAN, JESUS CHRIST, paid the perfect, sufficient payment for sin. Because JESUS is GOD, He could make a one-time payment to cover our endless offenses. Rather than living eternally in Hell to pay for our sins, JESUS could offer Himself as a one-time, Perfect Sacrifice, which GOD the FATHER accepted on our behalf ,. . . IF we do NOT reject Him.
Those who believe in Him receive salvation and forgiveness of sins, and abundant life now.
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (KJV)  . . . Hath = HAVE it now!
John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. (KJV)
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (KJV)
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.(KJV)
Dear one, there is ONLY ONE WAY to get to Heaven and that is JESUS!
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV)
Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV)
JESUS is the ONLY ONE Who can save you from Hell!

The Six Miracles of Calvary
The Miraculous Darkness: Luke 23:44-45. It was the 6th hour. That was noon. There was darkness over all the land and it continued from 12:00 to 3:00 o'clock. This was not an eclipse, which lasts for only a few minutes. It was at full moon, when an eclipse is impossible. At Jesus birth the night became light. At His death the light became night.
The Rending of the Veil: Matthew 27:51. There were three divisions in the Temple: #1. The Outer Court, #2. The Holy Place and #3. the Most Holy Place. There was a very high and stout veil that separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place. The Most Holy Place is where only the High Priest entered, and ONLY once a year. NO one else ever stepped beyond this veil. When JESUS cried out on the cross . . . "It Is Finished", this veil was torn in two from top to bottom, thus opening the way for anyone to enter into the Presence of GOD, without the high priest.
The Miraculous Earthquake: Matthew 27:51. The shaking of the Earth was at the exact moment of JESUS’ death. The Earth quaked to the extent that rocks were split open, yet the cross did NOT move. Supernatural? Yes! GOD interfered with nature.
The Miracle of the Opened Graves. Matthew 27:52-53.
The graves, of some saints, were opened at the very moment of Jesus’ death. Graves were rocky tombs, excavations in the rocks, and made secure by doors of stone. None came out of the graves at this time. The Earthquake was evidence of GOD’S divine power. The opening of the graves was evidence of GOD’S will.
The Undisturbed Grave Clothes of JESUS. Luke 24:12; John 20:3-10. When Peter and John entered the sepulcher, they saw the "linen clothes lying"...precisely as the Body had lain there. No human hands could have removed the Body from its clothes without leaving behind marks of disturbance. One thing they knew, JESUS was not there. He had risen.
Life in the Graveyard. Matthew 27:52-53. The graves of the saints were opened at the earthquake, but the dead bodies of the saints, did not rise and come out of the graves, until after CHRIST JESUS Himself had risen. This is a magnificent miracle to say the least! Absolutely miraculous.

The last words of JESUS before His death:
(1). Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. (Luke 24:34).
Even while experiencing the horrible pain of crucifixion, He was praying for the very people who caused His suffering. He came to earth for the purpose of forgiving sinners and He loved them and forgave them up until the end. It was because of man’s sin that He was on the cross—suffering on behalf of that sin.
(2). Today you will be with me in Paradise. (Luke 23:43).
Not only did JESUS forgive those who crucified Him, He also forgave one of the thieves crucified next to Him. When the thieves were put on the cross both of them cursed JESUS but, as time elapsed, one of the thieves had a change of heart.
(3). Woman, behold your Son. (John 19:26).
As JESUS continued to suffer on the cross His mind was still upon others. He saw His mother standing near the apostle John and said, Woman, behold your son. He then looked at John and said, Behold your mother! By doing this He was entrusting the care of His mother to John. The law required the firstborn son to take care of his parents, and JESUS was obeying the law of GOD up until the end.
(4). My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? (Mat.27:46).
The fourth saying of JESUS from the cross is probably the most difficult for us to understand. The sinless SON of GOD who had been, from all eternity, in an intimate relationship with His FATHER, is now spiritually separated from Him. When the sins of the world were put upon JESUS, there was, for the first time, a separation between the FATHER and the SON. The Bible records something happened between them that we can only understand through the eye of faith. For he made him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in him (2 Cor.5:21). In order for this to happen, the FATHER had to forsake the SON and punish Him on our behalf.
(5). I thirst. (John 19:28).
The fifth statement that JESUS made from the cross reminds us again that He suffered as a human being. He lived as a man and suffered as a man in order that He could identify with suffering humanity. From this statement we observe that JESUS suffered the full physical effect of crucifixion. There was no easing up, for the weight of our sins was placed upon Him.
(6). It is finished. (John 19:30).
The sixth statement from JESUS while on the cross was a cry of victory. He finished the job that the FATHER gave Him to do. He fulfilled prophecy. He achieved victory over Satan, sin, and death, and He secured salvation for all that would believe.
(7). Father, into your hands I commend my spirit. (Luke 23:46).
This is the final statement that we have from JESUS before His death. Everything had been completed and now it was time to dismiss His Spirit. JESUS had previously made the statement that He would willingly lay down His life for His sheep. Therefore my Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from my Father (John 10:17-18). From this we realize that JESUS had to purposely dismiss His Spirit; it could not be taken from Him. Unless He desired to die, He would not have had to. Because He was a willing victim, however, He chose to die. Upon making His final statement, Jesus died.

Psalm 22 Prophecies Fulfilled in New Testament

#1. Darkness upon Calvary for three hours. Psalm 22:2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. (KJV)  Fulfilled: Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. (KJV)  Mark 15:25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. (KJV)  Mark 15:33-34And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34  And at the ninth hour JESUS cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (KJV)  Luke 23:44-45 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45  And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. (KJV)

#2. They shoot out the lip and shake the head. Psalm 22:7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, (KJV)  Fulfilled: Matthew 27:39-44 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, 40  And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. 41   Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, 42  He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. 43  He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. 44  The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth. (KJV)

#3. He trusted in God, let Him deliver Him.  Psalm 22:8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. (KJV)  Fulfilled: Matthew 27:43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. (KJV)

#4. Born the Saviour. Psalm 22:9-10 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. 10  I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly. (KJV) Fulfilled: Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. (KJV)

#5. They seek His death. Psalm 22:12-13 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. 13  They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. (KJV) Fulfilled: Matthew 26:3-4 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, 4  And consulted that they might take JESUS by subtilty, and kill him. (KJV) Matthew 26:59-65 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against JESUS, to put him to death; 60  But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, 61  And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. 62  And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? 63  But JESUS held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the CHRIST, the Son of God. 64  JESUS saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 65  Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. (KJV) John 19:6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. (KJV)

#6. His blood poured out when they pierced His side.  Psalm 22:14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. (KJV)  Fulfilled: John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. (KJV)

#7. Suffered agony on Calvary.  Psalm 22:14-15  I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. 15  My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. (KJV) Fulfilled: Matthew 27:46  And about the ninth hour JESUS cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (KJV) Mark 15:34-37 And at the ninth hour JESUS cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 35  And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias. 36  And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down. 37  And JESUS cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. (KJV)

#8. He thirsted. Psalm 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. (KJV) Psalm 69:21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. (KJV) Fulfilled: John 19:28  After this, JESUS knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. (KJV) John 19:30 When JESUS therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. (KJV)

#9. They pierced His hands and His feet. Psalm 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. (KJV)
Fulfilled: John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. (KJV)  John 19:37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced. (KJV)  John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. (KJV) John 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. (KJV)

#10. Stripped Him before the stares of men.  Psalm 22:17-18 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. 18  They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. (KJV) Fulfilled: Luke 23:34-35 Then said JESUS, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. 35  And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be CHRIST, the chosen of God. (KJV)

#11. They parted His garment.  Psalm 22:18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. (KJV)  Fulfilled: John 19:23-24 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified JESUS, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. 24  They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. (KJV)

#12. He committed Himself to GOD. Psalm 22:20-21Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog. 21 Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns. (KJV) Fulfilled: Luke 23:46 And when JESUS had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. (KJV)

#13. Satanic power bruising the Redeemer's heel.  Psalm 22:20-21 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog. 21  Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns. (KJV) Fulfilled: Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; (KJV)

#14. His Resurrection declared. Psalm 22:22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. (KJV)  Fulfilled: John 20:17 JESUS saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. (KJV)

#15. He shall be the governor of the nations. Psalm 22:27-28 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. 28  For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations. (KJV) Fulfilled: Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: (KJV) Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his CHRIST; and he shall reign for ever and ever. (KJV)

#16. It is finished. Psalm 22:31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this. (KJV)  Fulfilled: John 19:30 When JESUS therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. (KJV) Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of JESUS CHRIST once for all. Psalm 40 Prophecies Fulfilled in New Testament

#1. The joy of His resurrection predicted. Psalm 40:2-5 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 3  And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. 4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. 5 Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. (KJV) Fulfilled: John 20:20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. (KJV) Acts 2:31-41 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33  Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34  For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 35  Until I make thy foes thy footstool. 36  Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37  Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
(KJV)
#2. His delight-the will of the Father. Psalm 40:6-8 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7  Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, 8  I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
(KJV) Fulfilled: John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.(KJV) Hebrews 10:5-10 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6  In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. 7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. 8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9  Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. 10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once
for all. (KJV)
#3. He would preach Righteousness in Israel. Psalm 40:9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest. (KJV) Fulfilled: Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (KJV)  Matthew 9:12-13 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (KJV)

#4. Confronted by adversaries in the Garden. Psalm 40:14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil. (KJV) Fulfilled: John 18:4-7 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? 5  They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. 6  As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. 7  Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. (KJV)

Psalm 22, Messiah’s Suffering and Death
(1). This Psalm details the agony and pain of JESUS with its opening words from the cross (Mk 15:34).
(2). You can also read of His mocking, piercings of Hands and Feet, and garments parted (22:7-8, 16, 18).
(3). It was written 1000 years before its fulfillment in exact words and deeds from the LORD’S crucifixion.
(4). We must consider, Gospel writers do not record nearly the detail you have here of His thoughts in prayer.
(5). Have you ever reflected on what thoughts CHRIST had, with sweat as it were great drops of blood (Lk.22:44).
(6). Have you ever considered how much that the SON of God endured in your place for your salvation?
(7). Are you JESUS’ brethren? Has He declared GOD’S Name to you? Do you believe and obey? (22:22).
(8). Are you the seed to serve Him? Will you declare today His righteous work to others (22:30-31)?
(9). Do you see His Blood pooling, His eyes rolling up, His ashen gray face gasping? He died for you!

Psalm 40, Messiah’s Obedience

(1). This Psalm is quoted by the writer in Hebrews 10:5-9 and applied to JESUS our MESSIAH and SAVIOUR.
(2). The ceremonial and sacrificial system of Moses could never save and put away the elect’s sins.
(3). GOD gave JESUS a Body and opened His Ears to hear GOD’S Words, and He obeyed GOD perfectly.
(4). It is GOD’S redemptive will and CHRIST’S obedience to it that sanctifies and perfects (Heb.10:10-14).
(5). CHRIST JESUS was ready to die (Isa.50:5-9; Mat.16:21-23; 26:39, 53-54; Lk.2:49; 9:51-53; 12:50; 22:14-16; Jn.4:34; 6:38-40; 8:28-29; 10:18; 12:27-28; 14:30-31; 18:11).
(6). Have you ever really considered WHY our Lord JESUS was ready to die? Dear one, it was love, an awesome love that NO ordinary Man could have. John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (KJV) . . . Great love for us is the reason why CHRIST JESUS was ready to die.

(1). This Psalm was fulfilled when Judas Iscariot treacherously betrayed CHRIST JESUS (41:9; Jn.13:18).

Man’s Triune Nature

I am bringing the following from one of our other web sites, in hopes that it may help in understanding our make-up as a human being.

1 Thes. 5:23, Man, a Trinity (Spirit, Soul, Body)
The Christian doctrine of immortality cannot be understood unless we rightly understand the triune nature of humans. Many think that man is just a physical being . . . a body. There is a danger if we think this way. In his desire to satisfy the needs of the body there is the tendency on man’s part to lose sight of the fact that he is immortal, eternal. There have been persons who have lived all of their lives either in ignorance or willful neglect of a life after death, but upon their death-bed they suddenly realized that they were more than physical beings.
Another idea today is that man consists of only two component parts: body and spirit. I think this view creates confusion in the minds of Christians. True, soul and spirit are very closely related . . . BUT soul and spirit are NOT the same. The Bible does make a distinction.
Man is a triune (3 part) being because he is created in the image of God. “God said, Let us make man in Our image” (Gen.1:26-27). The Bible clearly tells us that God is a Trinity. The Holy Trinity is clearly set forth in the Apostle Paul’s benediction that closes his Second Corinthian Letter: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen” (2 Cor.13:14).
And, our Lord Jesus Himself said, in what we call “The Great Commission”: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Mat.28:19). We ARE created in the image of God, and that being so . . . we also are a trinity. We have a spiritual nature that is separate and different from the body in which it dwells.

The following two Passages clearly establish the fact that man is a triune being composed of spirit, soul, and body.
1 Thes.5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV)
Heb.4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (KJV)
The false teaching of Jehovah’s Witnesses and other cults say that “man has no soul,” http://www.hisservants.org/jehovah's_witnesses_h_s.htm
BUT the Bible definitely states that man was created a trinity: spirit, soul, and body . . . just as the eternal God Himself is a trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The trinity of man is a necessary part of the image relationship between him and God. Life is NOT just physical and the body is NOT the whole person. Our body is NOT our whole being, neither is our soul in itself, or our spirit in itself. To make up the whole human being, we are “spirit and soul and body.” We must understand this if we are to comprehend the subject of life after death.

The Spirit

The word “spirit” when used in the Scriptures has several meanings. Whenever the word “Spirit” appears used with a capital letter, it can only mean one thing . . . that being it is the name of the third Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit of God. The word “spirit” spelled with a small letter may have one of several different meanings. It can have direct reference to the spirit of man which is as much a part of the triune nature of man as the Spirit of the living God is a Person of the Holy Trinity. Or it can indicate an evil spirit such as any agent of the devil. In this article, I will stay with the Biblical usage of the word only as it relates to the spirit of man, one of the three parts of his being.

Our BODY has 5 senses: sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch.
Our SOUL also has 5 senses: imagination, conscience, memory, reason and affection.
And our SPIRIT too has 5 senses and receives things through our soul: faith, hope, reverence, prayer and worship.

The spirit of man was enlightened from Heaven, but when Adam disobeyed God, sin stepped in and the spirit of man became a spirit of error and evil in every unregenerate heart (unbelievers). It remains that way until the life giving power of the Holy Spirit regenerates us with life and light giving us power in our new life in Christ Jesus. Our spirit is what makes us aware of God. It is the inner part of us where the work of regeneration takes place. The Holy Spirit of God does His work there in our spirit. 1 Cor.2:9-11 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. [10] But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. [11] For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. (KJV)
In our unregenerate state, we CANNOT know the things of God! Knowing God can come only when the Spirit of God is permitted to work in our life. Our human spirit is limited "to the things of man" (the world). This spirit is ignorant of the things of God. We are NOT able to know them.
1 Cor.2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (KJV)
Our human spirit needs “the spark of regeneration” before there is any understanding of the things of God. Our spiritual nature MUST be renewed before there is a true start of Godliness. One small thing stands blocking the door of our spirit, and that is our own will. But when we surrender our will, and open the door to our heart (Rev.3:20), the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our spirit. When this takes place . . . we will know it!
Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: (KJV)
Unless we totally yield our will to the Spirit of God, our unregenerate (evil) spirit CANNOT be renewed . . . and the deep things of God will NEVER be understood. NO religion, NO church activity can ever change the spirit of the unregenerate man.
Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. (KJV) Our spirit is given understanding. Some say that the spirit of man is the air that he breathes, and that man’s body is all there is to his personality. Not according to Job! Our spirit is our personality and it is what makes us different from the animal creation. If “spirit” merely meant “breath,” God certainly would not deal with it as a personality. He is called “The God of the spirits of all flesh” (Num.16:22), and “the Father of spirits” (Heb.12:9). It is by only by our spirit that we serve and worship God.

The Soul

Man has a living soul and IS a living soul. The Bible says: Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (KJV)
The spirit of man is the hub of activity where the Holy Spirit does His work of regeneration. The soul of man is the hub of activity where Satan operates (does his dirty work), desperately attempting to get control of our affections and emotions. Satan knows that he dominates the the soul of man. So . . . he does not care if a person goes to a church where the Spirit of God is not active. He knows that his victim is a creature of emotions, and it matters not if the emotions are stirred even to tears . . . just as long as man’s spirit does not come in contact with God’s Holy Spirit. I think that Satan would rather have person go to one of the many modern day emergent churches where heresies are taught, that to a house of prostitution. The soul is the seat of our passions, our feelings, and our desires . . . and Satan is well pleased if he can master these.
Genesis 34:8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife. (KJV)
1 Samuel 18:1 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. (KJV)
2 Samuel 5:8 And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house. (KJV) It is in the soul where fleshly lusts, desires, and appetites arise.
1 Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; (KJV)
Proverbs 25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. (KJV)
Isaiah 29:8 It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion. (KJV)
Our soul is our affections and desires, and we NEVER direct them in God's direction UNTIL our spirit has become regenerated by the Holy Spirit. We can NEVER love God or the things of God until we are born from above (John 1:12-13; 3:3-8). We can have a troubled conscience or be emotional to the point of weeping bitterly . . . BUT. . . we are still dead in trespasses and sins. Our desires and affections are turned toward God ONLY when we realize how sinful we are and that we NEED God’s grace to save us (Eph.2:8-9). When the Spirit of God illuminates the spirit of a man with divine light and life, that man begins to yield his affections and faculties to God.
The wonderful Virgin Mary said; “My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour” (Luke 1:46-47). She could NEVER have praised the Lord in her soul until she had recognized God in her spirit as her Saviour.
Psalm 103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. (KJV)

So . . . what is the difference
between the spirit and the soul?

Spirit refers only to the immaterial side of man. Mankind has a spirit, but we are NOT a spirit like God the Father (John 4:24). But, in Scripture only believers, those who are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, are said to be "spiritually alive" (1 Cor.2:11; Heb.4:12; Jam.2:26). Unbelievers are "spiritually dead" (Eph.2:1-5; Col.2:13). The spirit is the hub of the spiritual life of the believer (1 Cor.2:14; 3:1; 15:45: Eph.1:3; 5:9; Col.1:9; 3:16). The spirit is what gives man the ability to have an intimate relationship with God. Whenever the word spirit is used, it refers to the immaterial part of man including his soul.
The word soul refers not only to the immaterial part of man but also a material part. Man has a spirit, but man IS a soul. Soul literally means life. The soul is eternal (like God). The soul is the area that reveals man's willingness to sin. Man, from birth is naturally evil (Ps.58:3), and his soul is tainted as a result. Soul can refer to the whole person, alive or after death. The spirit refers to man's walk with God. The soul refers to man's walk in the world, both material and immaterial.
1 Thes. 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV) To me, this verse speaks of the entire person . . . spirit, soul and body. This reveals man’s trinity. We are made in the image of our triune God (Gen.1:26-27). We have a capacity to think, to feel and to know God. It is difficult for me to try to separate spirit and soul.
The very God = only the God of peace Himself; can do for us by His power what we cannot do by all our strength or efforts (Rom.16:20; Heb.13:20), namely, keep us from all evil, and give us all that is good.
Sanctify you = holiness is the necessary condition of peace (Phil. 4:6-9). Sanctify = make holy, purify or consecrate; to hallow, be holy, set apart for God. ONLY Jesus can sanctify us!
Wholly = Jesus Christ make us perfect in every respect: the spirit and soul and body . . . preserving the TOTAL person.
Whole = entire being, is different from wholly. Our spirit links us with God. It is the highest part of man which is receptive to the quickening Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 15:47). In the unspiritual (unbelievers), they have not the Spirit of God (1 Cor. 2:14; 1 Cor. 15:44; 1 Cor. 15:46-48; John 3:6). The unbeliever shall rise with a soul-animated body, but not like the believer with a spiritual body like Christ's (Rom.8:11).
Blameless = to be found in a blameless state at the coming of Christ. Each entire individual with spirit, soul, and body. The mention of the preservation of the body harmonizes with the subject (1 Thes. 4:16).

Another verse stating that we have a
soul and a spirit, making us a 'trinity'

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (KJV)
Genesis 1:26-27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. [27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (KJV)
Psalm 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. (KJV)
Ecc. 7:29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions. (KJV)
John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (KJV)
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (KJV)
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (KJV)
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (KJV)
Romans 5:16-18 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. [17] For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) [18] Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. (KJV)
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (KJV)
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (KJV)
1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (KJV)
1 Cor. 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. (KJV)
1 Cor. 15:46-48 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. [47] The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. [48] As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. (KJV)
Eph. 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (KJV)
Col. 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (KJV)
1 John 2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. (KJV)
1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (KJV)
1 John 4:4-6 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. [5] They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. [6] We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. (KJV)
Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (KJV)
As I consider the above Passages, it is clear to me that we ALL have an ETERNAL soul . . . and this is BOTH believers and unbelievers. BUT, the spirit within these differs tremendously. We are BORN with a spirit to do wrong (Ps.58:3) to sin, a spirit of error (1 John 4:6) because of Adam and Eve’s sin (Rom.5:12) . . . thus it is an evil spirit. We ALL belong to the devil’s family (1 John 3:10) UNTIL we open our heart’s door to Jesus (Rev.3:20; John 1:12-13; 3:3). Only then do we then possess a spirit of truth (1 John 4:6), because God gives us of His Spirit (Rom.8:9; 1 Cor. 2:14; 15:44). IF a person is not born again by the Spirit of God (John 3:3-8), the spirit of error within them leads in all WRONG directions because they are led by the devil. IF we do not have God's Spirit dwelling within us; we are NOT God’s children (Rom.8:9). When God's Spirit lives in us and leads us, we are under the control of our spiritual nature, not our corrupt nature.

I recently received an email from a friend.
It explains our two natures quite well.

TWO WOLVES

One day an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

One is evil. It is anger, arrogance, blasphemy, ego, false pride, greed, guilt, hatred, jealousy, lies, malice, regret, resentment, sorrow and superiority.

The other is good. It is love, faith, joy, peace, hope, gentleness, goodness, humility, kindness, compassion, benevolence, mercy, forgiveness, patience and self control."

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"

The wise old Indian answered, "The one that you feed."

We must be very careful which wolf we feed!

Psalm 68:18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them. (KJV)  Fulfilled: 1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. (KJV) 1 Corinthians 12:31  But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. (KJV) Ephesians 4:7-16 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of CHRIST. 8  Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9  (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10  He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11  And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of CHRIST: 13  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of CHRIST: 14  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15  But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even CHRIST: 16  From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

What about abortion?

Psalm 139:16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (KJV) . . . No veil can hide us from GOD; not the thickest darkness. No mask can save any person or action from being seen in the true light by Him. His Eyes saw my unformed substance in my mother’s womb. And in His Book were written all the days of my life before they ever took shape, when as yet there was none of them! Have you ever really considered this?

The word for substance indicates the bottom of a ball of yarn wound up, or any small or unformed part; and means that form of matter separated in the womb, containing all the essentials of the human body, but not yet distinguished into any form or order . . . yet, even when in this state, the Eyes of the LORD see it and all its parts clearly. In the book of GOD'S wise, eternal mind, the plan of the human body was drawn, all the parts of it described, and their form, places and uses fixed, even when as yet not one of them was in actual being. But, in due time they are all exactly formed and fashioned according to the model of them in the Mind of GOD; for He has perfect knowledge of us before . . . because they were written down in a book before Him. Not only each of the members of the body were put down in this book, but each of the days in which they would be formed and come into order . . . when as yet, there was none of them. Have you ever really thought about this amazing fact? It is far too much for my mind to consider, but I know it is true.

My comment: Anyone who aborts their child, aborts this substance, yet being unperfect, is killing an innocent child and are in serious danger with Almighty GOD! BEWARE!!!  . . . But, dear one, ANY sin can be forgiven if you repent.

What is Imprecatory Psalm?
Some Imprecatory Psalms: (Ps. 5, 10, 17, 35, 58, 59, 69, 79, 83, 109, 140).
Imprecatory Psalms are Psalms that contain curses or prayers for the punishment of the psalmist's enemies. To imprecate means to invoke evil upon, or curse. All the above contain prayers for GOD'S judgment on the psalmist's enemies. Example imprecatory prayers from the Psalms follow:
Psalm 5:10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. (KJV0
Psalm 10:15 Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none. (KJV)
Psalm 17:13 Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword: (KJV)
Psalm 35:5-37 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.
6  Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them. 7  For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul. (KJV)
Psalm 58:6 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD. (KJV)
Psalm 59:13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. (KJV)
Psalm 69:22-28 Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. 23  Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake. 24  Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them. 25  Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents. 26  For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded. 27  Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness. 28  Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. (KJV)
Psalm 79:6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name. (KJV)
Psalm 83:13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind. 14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire; 15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. (KJV)
Psalm 109:7-10 When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
Psa 109:8  Let his days be few; and let another take his office. 9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. 10 Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. (KJV)
Psalm 140:10-11 Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again. 11 Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him. (KJV)

Difficulties arise as attempts are made to harmonize the imprecatory attitude of the Psalms with the Lord JESUS’ teaching that one should love our enemies (Mat.5:44). Consider that there is a kind of hate for sinners, seen as morally corrupt and hostile to GOD, which coexists with pity and a deep down desire for their salvation. There comes a time when such prolonged, hardened, high-handed hatred and hostility toward Almighty GOD, that it may be fitting and right to call down a curse on what they do. It is correct and proper that we pray that CHRIST would vindicate His Holy Name by destroying the enemies of righteousness, just as He preserves those who love, glorify, honor and respect His Name.

The imprecatory Psalms are NOT a matter of personal revenge, but instead prayers of being aware of GOD’S justice and His intolerance for sin. These hard sayings are NOT statements of personal revenge, but prayers of passion for the Kingdom of GOD and His glory. The attacks which motivated these prayers were NOT from personal enemies, but instead were actually attacks against GOD. Any and all attacks against GOD or against His only begotten SON, JESUS, should excite us to know it is wrong; and it is NOT a sin to pray imprecatory prayers.

Some say that JESUS introduced a new law for this dispensation, that being to love our enemies and pray for the welfare of our persecutors (Mat.5:44), and that this is not compatible with imprecatory Psalms of the Old Testament. I disagree. Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (KJV)  . . . YES! We are to Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you . . . BUT, when someone hates my Lord JESUS, blasphemes Him with satanic bursts of harassments, mockeries, obscenities and ridicules, there is nothing wrong when I go to GOD in an imprecatory prayer and ask Him to: Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them (Ps.69:24). There is nothing in such a prayer
that in the smallest way questions the Divine authority of the earlier Scriptures.

There are many imprecations in the New Testament:
Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. (KJV)
Matthew 26:23-24 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. 24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. (KJV)
1 Corinthians 16:22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha. (KJV)
Galatians 1:8-9 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (KJV)
Galatians 5:12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you. (KJV)
2 Thessalonians 1:6-9 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; (KJV)
2 Timothy 4:14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: (KJV)
Revelation 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? (KJV)

Psalm 68 prophecies Fulfilled in New Testament

#1. To give gifts to men. (KJV)
#2. Ascention into Heaven. Psalm 68:18Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD GOD might dwell among them. (KJV)  Fulfilled: Luke 24:51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. (KJV) Act 1:9-11 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. (KJV)

CHRIST, the official title of our LORD, occurs over 565 times in the New Testament, indicating that He was anointed or consecrated to His great redemptive work as Prophet, Priest and King of His people. He is JESUS the CHRIST (Acts 17:3; 18:5; Mat. 22:42), the ANOINTED ONE. He is thus spoken of by Isaiah (Isa.61:1), and by Daniel (Dan. 9:24-26), who calls Him “Messiah the Prince.” This is He of whom Moses in the law and the prophets did write. The Old Testament Scripture is full of prophetic declarations regarding the Great Deliverer and the work He was to do. JESUS the CHRIST is JESUS the GREAT DELIVERER, the Anointed One, the Saviour of men. To believe that “JESUS is the CHRIST” is to believe that He is the ANOINTED, the MESSIAH of the prophets, the SAVIOUR sent of GOD, that He was what He claimed to be. Only believing this by faith can anyone be brought unto GOD. (1 John 5:1). CHRIST JESUS IS GOD.

Special Comments for Psalm 89

The Certainty of Death

Death is the well-traveled road of all mankind. Death comes to ALL living things.
(1). Both the good and the bad are taken away by death. Both the righteous and wicked by death, pass into another state . . . the righteous into the blissful everlasting life (Jn.3:15-16, 36), the wicked into eternal agony (Mat.25:41; Rev.20:15). So it is that both the righteous and the wicked are equally accountable to the laws and decrees of GOD. Both the wheat and the tares standing and growing on the same ground, are mowed down together at the harvest (Mat.13:25-30). None of us know when OUR harvest will come. Are YOU ready for death?
(2). Death shows no mercy to rank or condition of men. The richest man in the world, the wisest king, as well as all subjects shall at their time be called to this fatal blow. The lofty cedars and low shrubs, magnificent palaces and mud huts are all the same here.
(3). Death favors no age. Sometimes the infant is no sooner born, that he is sent to the grave. Both old and young submit to the law of death. The old may be said to go to death, but death also comes to the young.
(4). Death makes no distinction between sexes. Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Rachel, Elkanah and Hannah, Lazarus and the rich man equally submit to the laws of death. Both the richest man in the world and homeless man on the street will meet death one day.
(5). There is NO place where death does not and cannot enter. Some have been seized at their work, some in the streets, others in their shops, some in the market, others in retirement homes. There is absolutely NO privileged place where death cannot find us, and so, no matter where we are, when our number is called, we shall be found. Spring, summer, fall or winter, all seasons are made use of by death. Death can come in the day, in the night, in the morning or in the evening, in time of work or leisure, in times of calamity and prosperity, death can invade.

Advantages that are with those that live with continuous outlook of death.
(1). Knowing death will come makes a soul exceedingly careful in duty (John 9:4).
(2). Knowing death will come make a Christian extremely serious, and passionate in the exercise of his duty (Ecc.9:10).
(3). Knowing death will come, knowing that we all must die, will help Christians to be horrified at the wickedness of this present world (Rom.1:22-32; 1 Cor.5:10-11; Gal.5:19:21).
(4). When a Christian believes that he must die, it is a great control to keep him from sin (Job 31:13-14).
(5). When a Christian lives knowing that he shall once see death, it will make him very patient under every trouble he encounters.
(6). Knowing death will come teaches the person to study wisdom (Ps.90:12).
(7). Knowing death will come makes a Christian very careful in preparing for death.
(8). Knowing death will come is not as terrible to a Christian as it is to the wicked when it comes.

Are you prepared to die?
(1). To die well and in the LORD is difficult.  You are to die only once; and if you do not die right, there is no way to mend it or re-do it.
(2). All those who die in the LORD are pronounced blessed (Rev.14:13).
(3). Your labors on Earth shall end, but your works shall not be forgotten; which is a wonderful advantage if you have loved and served the LORD to the best of your ability.
(4). Death may come upon you when you are not aware; you do not know when death might surprise you, so you should let that press you to prepare for death.
(5). After death, judgment shall come. If you are a stranger to CHRIST JESUS before death,  you shall appear before this ALMIGHTY JUDGE, a stranger to Him (Rev.20:11-15). If you are a born again Christian by faith in what JESUS has done for you, you are His Friend (Jn.14:15; 15:14): therefore I implore you all to prepare for it.

Preparing for death.
(1). Be prepared for death each and every day, for it is really is preparing for Heaven, for you know not when death may come to you.
(2). Keep in mind the wonders of Heaven (Jn.14:2-3; 1 Pet.1:3-5).
(3). Always keep a good conscience, void of offence towards GOD and man.
(4). Always do any known duty; do not break any promise.

Things to Consider

  1. IF Heaven is a real, literal place, then maybe Hell too is an actual, literal place.
  2. IF Hell is real, is it really worth the chance that you might spend eternity there?
  3. IF you could KNOW for certain that you could go to Heaven, would you want to know how?

HOW CAN YOU GET TO HEAVEN??
First of all, you must know that Heaven is NOT a reward for good behavior, and Hell is NOT a punishment for misbehavior. You could NEVER stock up enough "good points" in your entire lifetime to get you access to Heaven. God clearly tells us our "righteousnesses are as filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6). So, considering this gruesome fact, how do we get in the Door of Heaven?
Well, my friend, there is only ONE Door (Gate) into Heaven and that is Christ Jesus, the Son of Almighty God. Without Him, only Hell awaits.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. [KJV] Jesus' Words.
John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. [KJV] Jesus' Words.
The Bible clearly tells us Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Yes, "but how many of my sins" you might ask. ALL of them! The Bible also clearly tells us that we ALL are sinners, and that we ALL will receive death (eternal death, or Hell) without Jesus.

Special Comments
For Psalm 23

I find Psalm 22 quoted many times in the New Testament, and Psalm 24 once, but I can find no place where Psalm 23 is quoted. The closest place Psalm 23 would be quoted would be in the Gospel of John, Chapter 10.

Psalm 22:1           Mat.27:46; Mark 15:34
Psalm 22:7           Mat.27:39; Mark 15:29; Luke 23:35
Psalm 22:8           Mat.27:43
Psalm 22:18         Mat.27:35; Mark 15:24; Luke 23:34; John 19:24
Psalm 22:22         Heb.2:12

Psalm 24:1           1 Cor.10:26

Rods and Staffs

The rod was what the shepherd relied on to safeguard both himself and his flock in danger. And too, it was the tool he used to discipline and correct any wayward sheep that insisted on wandering away. An interesting thought on the word rod  . . . the informal term rod has been applied to hand-guns such as pistols and revolvers which cowboys carried for protection. The meaning is about the same as that used in this Psalm.
Another thought in which the rod is used by the shepherd for the welfare of his sheep, was that of discipline. The rod (club) is used for this purpose probably more than any other. If the shepherd saw a sheep wander away or approach poisonous weeds, or getting too close to danger of any kind, the rod would go flying through the air to send the wayward animal running back to the flock. Another use of the rod in the shepherd's hand was to examine and count the sheep. In the Old Testament this was referred to as to pass under the rod (Lev.27:32; Eze.20:37). This not only meant coming under the owner's control and authority, but also to be subject to his most careful examination. A sheep that passed under the rod was one which had been counted and looked over with great care to make sure all was well with it. Because of their long wool it is not always easy to see disease, wounds or defects in sheep.

In caring for his sheep, a good shepherd was a careful manager, and will from time to time make a careful examination of each separate sheep. As each animal comes out of the corral and through the gate, it is stopped by the shepherd's outstretched rod. He opens the fleece with the rod; he runs his skillful hands over the body; he feels for any sign of trouble; he examines the sheep with care to see if all is well. This is a most thorough process involving every detail. It is, too, a comfort to the sheep for only in this way can its hidden problems be found by the shepherd.

Last but not least, the shepherd's rod is an instrument of protection both for himself and his sheep when they are in danger. It is used both as a defense and a deterrent against anything that would attack. The shepherd is experienced in using his rod to drive off predators like coyotes, lions, wolves, cougars or stray dogs, and it is also used to beat the brush to discourage snakes and other creatures from disturbing his flock. In extreme cases, such as David related to Saul (1 Sam.17:34-36), the psalmist no doubt used his rod to attack the lion and the bear that came to raid his flocks.

Now to discuss the shepherd's staff. The staff, more than any other item identifies the shepherd as a shepherd. No one in any other profession carries a shepherd's staff. It is exclusively an instrument used for the care and management of sheep. It is designed, shaped and adapted especially to the needs of sheep. The staff is really a symbol of the compassion that a shepherd has for his sheep. No other word can better describe its role on behalf of the flock than the staff, it is for their comfort. While the rod conveys the idea of authority, discipline, power and defense against danger, the word staff speaks of all that is good, patient and kind.

The shepherd's staff is usually a long, slender stick, often with a crook or hook on one end. In some way, the staff seems to be of special comfort to the shepherd himself. In the harsh treks and in the long weary watches with his sheep, he leans on it for support and strength. It is to him a comfort and help in his job.
There are three areas of managing sheep where the staff plays a very important role. The first is drawing sheep together into a group. The shepherd will use his staff to gently lift a newborn lamb and bring it to its mother if they become separated. He does this because he does not wish to have the ewe reject her offspring if it bears the odor of his hands on it. The staff is used by the shepherd to reach out and catch individual sheep, young or old, and draw them close to him to examine it. The staff is useful this way for the shy and timid sheep normally tend to stay at a distance from the shepherd.
The staff is also used for guiding sheep. A shepherd uses his staff to guide his sheep gently into a new path or through some gate or along dangerous, difficult paths. The staff is not used to beat the sheep, but instead, the tip of the long slender stick is laid gently against the animal's side and the pressure applied guides the sheep in the way the shepherd wants it to go. Being stubborn creatures sheep often get into the most absurd and ridiculous tight spots. Sheep, greedy for just one more mouthful of green grass, climb down steep cliffs where they could easily slip and fall into a canyon or the sea. Only the shepherd's staff could lift them out of the water back onto solid ground.
Sheep can also get stuck fast in tangles of brambles and briers where they had pushed in to find green grass. The multiple thorns get so entangled and hooked in their wool that they cannot pull free on their own, but the use of the staff can free them from their predicament.

Bible References of the Staff

Even today in many parts of the world, shepherds still carry rods and staffs to protect and care for their sheep but the staff has a considerable different meaning and use than the rod. The staff is a symbol of GOD’S authority, where His leaders were identified, as in the case where Aaron’s rod which budded and was a sign to others that GOD had ordained him alone as the high priest (Num.Ch.17). The staff in Moses’ hand took a great part in the plagues given out to Egypt that indicated GOD’S sovereignty over Egypt and that He was working through His servant Moses (Ex. Ch.7-10).

JESUS’ Rod and His Staff

Jesus is called the GREAT SHEPHERD. He defends His sheep with His rod but He brings back the wandering or straying sheep with the shepherd’s staff. The staff has a curved, crooked end that fits the neck of the sheep perfectly and it is a gradual ‘u-shape’, meaning that it can take hold of little lambs as well as the grown sheep, using the same staff. He can defend the flock from the wolves by His rod and He will correct us by His rod when (not if) we need it and He can keep the sheep close to Him by His staff. This is how Micah referred to the staff: Micah 7:14 Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old. (KJV)

The Rod and Love

In the covenant that GOD made with David, the LORD said of Solomon: 2 Samuel 7:14-15  I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: 15 But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. (KJV) . . . GOD did not mean that He would beat Solomon with an actual rod, GOD meant He would discipline Solomon when he would need it (and he would need it!). This is really a sign of love because true love = discipline . . . Hebrews 12:6-7 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? (KJV) Psalm 94:12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law; (KJV) Psalm 119:75 I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. (KJV) Proverbs 3:12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. (KJV)

Conclusion

GOD loves us so that He does not leave us alone to ourselves. He cares enough about us to discipline us with His symbolic rod when we need it. If He did not love us, He would let us wander off like stray sheep over a cliff. His rod protects us from the enemy and He uses His staff to keep us close to Him. Jesus is the GREAT SHEPHERD and He uses both the rod when we need it and the staff when He needs to. The rod and the staff reveal the loving care of GOD the FATHER and the SON of GOD, Who is the GREAT SHEPHERD. Dear one, if the SHEPHERD starts out with one hundred sheep, He will absolutely bring home one hundred sheep . . . so we too can say, as the psalmist said: Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (KJV)

ARE OUR DAYS DETERMINED?

The Bible seems to say yes; and they have been numbered even before we were born.
Job 14:1-6 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. 2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. 3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee? 4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one. 5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; 6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day. (KJV) . . . His days are determined . . . our days are decided, predestined by GOD, long before we are born. We cannot go one day (not even one hour) beyond the day GOD has appointed for us to live.

Psalm 139:16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (KJV) . . . Not only are the days of our life decided, but even the hairs of your head are all numbered (Mat.10:30).

Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment (Heb.9:27), GOD gives us all a choice . . . we either believe in CHRIST and have eternal life (John 3:16) . . . or reject CHRIST and have His wrath abide on us for all time (John 3:36; 2 Thes.1:8-9; Rev.20:15). The choice is in OUR hands! (Deut.30:15-20). What choice have YOU made?
